  • At Tadaweb, Design Thinking workshops play a crucial role in fostering collaboration and driving innovation. Their main goal is to create a shared understanding among team members, stakeholders, and developers, aligning everyone on the problem being addressed and the user's needs. This shared understanding forms the foundation for effective problem-solving and collaboration. While the immediate by-product of these workshops is often a collection of ideas, these ideas serve as starting points that can evolve into more refined solutions over time. The structure and scope of these workshops vary. Full design sprints, spanning five days, allow teams to develop solutions that are closer to being production-ready. However, smaller, more focused sessions prioritize building alignment and a sense of ownership among participants. These shorter workshops, though not as comprehensive, are powerful in creating a collaborative mindset and sparking creative thinking. For these workshops to succeed, careful planning and timing are essential. They work best when scheduled during quieter periods or between major projects, allowing participants to disconnect from daily responsibilities and focus entirely on the session. By creating an environment that encourages participation and balances structure with flexibility, our teams ensure that these workshops lead to meaningful outcomes. Though challenges like time constraints and competing priorities can arise, Design Thinking workshops remain invaluable for our design teams. They enable them to think beyond immediate tasks, align on goals, and collaboratively chart a path forward. With thoughtful execution, these sessions not only inspire ideas but also strengthen teamwork and ownership, driving impactful results. Thank you to our teams for their dedication and collaboration! #DesignThinking #CollaborativeInnovation #TechCompany #teamwork

Our webinar with Tadaweb looked at the benefits and challenges of OSINT with Steve Young, Jill S., Euan C. and Rory H. Here is a recap of some of the advice that panellists gave. Complexity of data and sheer volume of false information is such a challenge of investigators. Access to data in different jurisdictions is very difficult as well. Classified intelligence has higher credibility rather than open source which is seen as high risk. How to manage the risk is something that organizations should be aware of. OSINT data should be given a weight of evidence. You need tools to be able to retrieve information that hides in difficult places The ability of the tools to interpret that information helps us make sense of the data. There is a problem with volume but an understanding the art of the possible is key legally and practically. Corroboration of information is extremely time consuming. There is no silver bullet to pivot across independent data sources and you need wider data access. With more platforms and more information, validation becomes more important. Due diligence on data sources is also important. Where you find more complex investigations you can use hypotheses - or challenge hypotheses - to prove or disprove evidence to reach a balance of judgement. How do we keep up? It's hard to stay on top of sources but also using sources in a novel way. We need to watch experts see what they're doing. You will never have budget to have access to all sources of data so choose carefully. It can be prudent to run tasks using different tools to see what comes back and where the gaps are. OSINT is a community with a 'share by default' mentality - people want to talk about new techniques and tools so do look on platforms like Reddit. AI and LLMs are driving OSINT but accuracy, opaque sourcing and hallucinations continue to be problematic, so investigators need to test, validate and review. Also be aware of who owns the outputs, and do not just take the data without the validation piece. Access to closed social media channels is a challenge - we have to ask if access is legal and what the platform's Ts & Cs are. Data must be accessed in a sustainable fashion. If it is locked down it is locked down for a reason. The job of the investigator is to understand biases and where they come from - the "Taxonomy of Fallacies" is a useful tool. Getting into the corners of the internet is a challenge, and we need to focus on precision. Workflows can be automated which saves time. Ensure what you do online is secure and be careful of what you leave behind e.g. your browser trail. There may be unknown adversary threats and you may need to use a VPN. Also relentlessly focus on your objective with absolute clarity in order to get relevant results. You should seek out data that contradicts your findings not just corroborates it. There's a difference between open source information and open source intelligence. Scepticism is important!
