This is Tilly. If you came along to our AGM you will have heard their inspirational talk about recovery. Tilly is a real ambassador for First Steps ED and wanted to get involved with our 20for20 campaign to raise funds as part of our 20th anniversary. Tilly didn't fancy a sporty challenge but decided to set a challenge to eat 20 of their fear foods and explain more about their personal story along the way. Tilly's video journey will talk about lots of topics that have affected them during recovery, things that challenged them, made them scared but ultimately how they are no longer in fear. If you'd like to support @mattywigwam they have set up a GoFundMe page hoping to raise £150 to support other people in the same position and you can donate using this link https://lnkd.in/eP-VK_6a #FirstStepsED #20for20Campaign #EatingDisorderRecovery #MentalHealthAwareness #FearFoodsChallenge #RecoveryJourney #GoFundMe #SupportOthers #InspirationStory

#SpeakUpMonth highlights the importance of having a voice and encourages everyone to speak up for safety, support, and positive change. At First Steps ED, we aim to create a culture where every concern is heard and valued. We offer our staff opportunities to #SpeakUp through various channels such as supervision sessions, anonymous staff surveys, and through our Freedom to Speak Up Guardian. We also encourage staff to #ListenUp and share information through our weekly Multidisciplinary Team meeting, providing an open forum for discussing any issues, ideas, or improvements.

East Herts District Women's Bowling Association🙌 have just completed their annual fundraising for President Angela's chosen charity First Steps ED. We're delighted to hear that after their annual charity gala and other events they raised £1,510 for us. Angela said " I choose First Steps ED as a member of my family has previously needed support for an eating disorder, so First Steps ED seemed fitting and all of the women at the club have been supportive." 💙 Niamh, one of our fabulous team spoke to the ladies at one of their events, and explained more about what we do. If you'd like to have us as your charity of the year, or host a fundraiser, we'd love to hear about it. We can also talk at your groups or events in person or by teams depending on location. There have been growing calls for a confidential inquiry into deaths related to eating disorders. First Steps ED will support any effort that can improve treatment in the UK. We believe in recovery for all. We know that early intervention is key, long hospital stays should be avoided, and a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work, but unfortunately, eating disorders are often underfunded. We back the inquiry because learning from these cases can help improve future services, but lasting change is essential to prevent further loss of life. Contains suicide reference. https://lnkd.in/eS78NT8v #EatingDisorderSupport #MentalHealthAwareness #RecoveryIsPossible #EarlyIntervention #EndTheStigma

You may have seen our posts over the last month or so about Amy's 2000km cycle from Italy back to Derby. We are delighted to say she has raised a staggering £9,301 for First Steps ED, smashing her £1,000 goal. Amy has received our support in the past and also worked for First Steps so we're loving watching her adventures. Not only has she raised enough money to provide over 350 counselling sessions, but she's out there raising awareness of mental health and eating disorders as she goes! Oh and watch this space... there's a book coming out soon too 📚 If you want to watch her updates from the adventure you can here https://lnkd.in/eRmsZmGn #CyclingLife #FundraisingFriday #MentalHealthAwareness #EatingDisorderRecovery #CharityCycle #InspiringJourney #BookRelease #AdventureAwaits #SupportingEachOther #FirstStepsED
