  • 🗓️ Following the attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, the invasion of the Philippine island of Luzon by Japan led to the first clashes of US and Japanese tanks.    The Japanese ultimately overpowered the US troops, but the Philippines Campaign did provide insight into the importance of effective use of armour for the Americans.

  • Our online shop has set a new Black Friday sales record, bringing in a total of £140,000! 🎉 As a charity, all the profit from our sales is re-invested into conserving our historically significant collection of tanks and armoured vehicles. We'd like to thank everyone who has supported the work of the Museum by making a purchase, as well as our fantastic team who work so hard behind the scenes to fulfil every order 🙌 . Top sellers included this year’s limited edition knitted Christmas jumper and our range of cosy tank slippers. There’s still time to grab some tank-themed Christmas gifts! 👉 https://lnkd.in/daSuHpW

  • So exciting to have our Sherman 'Fury' tank star alongside Jason Statham in this brilliant campaign! 🤩

After Vinnie Jones, who could take its place? His mate Jason Statham of course. It took us more than eight months to complete, from the original concept and script to filming and post-production. Many people are involved to thank, but we've done it again. Another amazing Holiday Ops campaign has launched. Happy Holidays! PS: It was one of the hottest days of the year when we filmed at the Warner Studios in London, and the tank in the video is the same tank used in the film "Fury" with Brad Pitt graciously lent by The Tank Museum. 🎄We're delivering Christmas cards to veterans this year in partnership with Help for Heroes🎄 Children visiting our ‘A Dorset Christmas’ event were invited to write a letter to veterans in a specially designed tank-themed Christmas card. 💌 In total, three hundred cards were ‘posted’ at the Museum. They will be given to veterans at a Help for Heroes coffee morning in December. Find out more 👉️ https://lnkd.in/e_VcEaRm

We were all very excited to see some snow settle at The Tank Museum yesterday. (It doesn't happen very often!) ❄️ Though it has now melted, we did take some photos to preserve the moment. This one of our Royal Tank Regiment memorial stood out, the way the contrast of the snow highlights the details of the sculpture is magical 💚.

  • In June 2024, we launched a fundraising campaign to revive our M47 Patton tank and we're delighted to announce we've passed the halfway mark! 🎉 The US built M47 probably isn’t the most interesting tank in history, but it is an important part of the Cold War story and has a famous fan in Arnold Schwarzenegger. The restoration is underway, and the M47 is expected to be in running condition ready for TANKFEST 2025. More here 👉️ https://lnkd.in/eQ8x4rdH

  • Today we mark the anniversary of the Battle of Cambrai, the world’s first combined arms battle involving tanks, which began on this day in 1917. Taking place across the trenches of the First World War, the Battle of Cambrai saw the largest force of tanks assembled up until this point in the war. The attack took the Germans completely off guard, and the British and their tanks advanced 10,000 yards. Cambrai Day is commemorated annually by the Royal Tank Regiment - a major event in the regiment's calendar, and a significant date for us as the regimental museum of the Royal Tank Regiment. Check out this video to find out more about Cambrai and the Mark IV tanks the British used 👉️ https://lnkd.in/e4ZMnGms
