Yesterday, I was honoured to meet His Majesty the King, at the launch of the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance (“CBA”) at St James Palace. HM King Charles III established the Alliance back in 2020, and I was delighted to be invited by my friend and a staunch supporter of the CBA as well as the founder of Council for Inclusive Capitalism Lynn Forester de Rothschild. In my table, together with visionary global leaders like Lynn, Chairman of CBA Dame Amelia Fawcett DBE, CVO, Chairman of Estee Lauder William Lauder, the giant of advertising world Baron Maurice Saatchi, Michael Baum, Rupert Adams, Andy Ford, CFA, Elizabeth Kennedy, and Rose Scrope, we discussed and debated how can the finance sector incentivise investments that prioritise nature and what changes are needed in investor mandates and policies to prioritise nature first mandates. Big questions that do not have obvious or easy answers. As the global community continues to struggle with a change to the World order that has been in place since the end of WWII, there will be more pressure, not less, to prioritise short term goals that are mostly at odds with doing the right thing for the planet. Only through taking a pragmatic and realistic approach towards methods to align short term commercial and long term nature based interests can we hope to achieve meaningful positive change, and as Tanto Capital Partners, we will be delighted to support CBA in its critical mandate to accelerate transition to a nature-first circular bioeconomy. #nature #investments #sustainability

It was intense as always at this year's annual The World Bank / International Monetary Fund meetings in Washington D.C. I was delighted to pay a visit to the new Turkish Ambassador to the USA, H.E. Sedat Önal to discuss the future of Turkish American foreign policy and trade on the back of the looming US elections. At The Brookings Institution Minister of Finance of Turkiye Mehmet Șimșek provided a frank situation analysis and future guidance around the Turkish economy. Jamie Dimon & Daniel Pinto fireside chat at the JPMorganChase investor conference was great, and The Banks Association of Turkiye reception the most well attended of the week. It was also great to meet some ex colleagues, clients, and friends from JPM (Stefan Weiler) Morgan Stanley (Ralph Al Raheb) Goldman Sachs (Alessandro Dusi) as well as from the banking community Mohammed Ali Addarrat, Adnan Bali , Hakan Aran, Kaan GÜR, HAKAN ATES & Bora Böcügöz amongst others. The overall tone of the week was cautiously optimistic about the US economy, but with well justified anxiety around the likelihood of increased trade tariffs (inflationary), higher for longer interest rates, and ofcourse the impact of increased geopolitical risk as well as the acknowledgement that a new world order is emerging.
