  • 👏👏👏

Following the recent completion of the 500,000 sq ft Arc Royal Project in Birkenhead, Building Systems UK and Hathaway Contractors donated over 500 items of food, one item for every 1000 sq ft, to the local food bank based just minutes away from the Arc Royal site. The foodbank donates over 200,000 tons of food throughout the year, supporting over 400 people per week across the local area. This exceptional work, from all the volunteers involved, is a vital source of support for many, particularly over the Christmas period. Again, thanks to everyone at the Wirral Foodbank for all their hard work!

  • This week we supported the launch of a White Ribbon Day event at Port Talbot’s Academy 🙅🤍 Hosted by our friends at Thrive Women's Aid, the event brought together 20+ local and national organisations to kick off a 16-day campaign against gender-based violence. The day featured personal stories from survivors and important conversations about how we can all play a part in creating positive change. Thrive are one of many important causes we support locally, which is why we were very happy to announce a £1,000 donation to strengthen our long-standing support of their important work. When it comes to calling out violence against women and girls, we all have a part to play 🙅🙅♀️ #OurCommunities | #WhiteRibbon | #16DaysofActivism

😎 The Future's looking brighter for Wales 😎 The Welsh Government's recent commitment to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy, particularly solar power, is a game-changer for Wales' green future. 💪 By delegating decision-making powers for projects up to 50MW to the Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW), the average decision time is expected to be reduced by 12 weeks, encouraging more investment in clean energy. One of the key highlights is the boost to small-scale solar PV projects. This initiative will not only reduce dependence on imported gas but also create local jobs in the solar panel supply chain and installation sectors. 🌏 David Hanson, Catnic’s Managing Director, expressed his enthusiasm: "We are absolutely delighted with the Welsh Government’s commitment to renewable energy. This underscores our company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in the building industry. We’re determined to work with our supply chain to introduce the benefits of our Catnic Urban and SolarSeam products, which will support the government in delivering these key targets whilst accomplishing the expectations of modern homeowners and builders. We're excited for the future and to continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible in sustainable building technology." Collaboration with communities, developers, and stakeholders is emphasised to remove barriers and improve outcomes for supply chains, skills, and employment. The Welsh Government aims to meet 100% of Wales' annual electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2035, setting ambitious targets to lead the UK's clean energy transition. • 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 🔓👇 UK Steel have released a new report this week, to provide a policy blueprint for the Government’s Steel Strategy, to ensure our sector can thrive. The Government’s current steel procurement strategy costs UK taxpayers £1.5 billion a year. This can be avoided. As the single biggest purchaser of steel in the UK, UK Steel says the Government needs to support our sector by procuring the steel it buys from UK steelmakers, rather than purchasing steel from abroad. UK Steel’s 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟱 recommendations include: 1️⃣ Public Procurement Contracts 2️⃣ Contracts for Difference (CfDs) 3️⃣ Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects 4️⃣ Procurement Policy Note for Steel (PPN) 5️⃣ Investment in steel supply chains So let’s put our efforts in the right place, to help our sector thrive and make these ambitious projects, made with, or using UK-made steel, possible 🇬🇧👏 Read the full report and recommendations: https://ow.ly/20VQ50UgKY3 #UKSteel | #UKMFG | #Innovation

🆕 𝙐𝙆 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙂𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙣𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙠 𝙢𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙞-𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙥𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙨 As the largest buyer of steel in the UK, the Government has a unique opportunity to support the domestic steel sector. However, the latest data reveals that one third of the steel it procures is imported, costing UK taxpayers £1.5 billion annually rather than supporting UK steel producers. Over the next decade, government steel requirements will exceed £4.3 billion without even accounting for major initiatives such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen infrastructure, nuclear energy, and offshore wind. To provide a policy blueprint for the Government’s Steel Strategy, UK Steel has today published a new report, Public Procurement of Steel: Time for new thinking for a thriving industry. The report contains a range of proposals to improve the uptake of UK-made steel in taxpayer-funded projects. UK Steel highlights the opportunity for the Government, as the single biggest purchaser of steel in the UK, to further support its steel sector by procuring the steel it buys from UK steelmakers rather than buying steel from abroad. 📑 £21𝙗𝙣 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 To shine a light on these missing sectors in Government figures and to show the real opportunity for both the Government and the British steel sector, UK Steel commissioned an independent report from LumenEE to identify the total steel needed for the rapid expansion of the UK’s offshore wind sector, out to 2050. Offshore wind experts LumenEE estimate that up to 25 million tonnes of steel will be needed in the next 25 years for offshore wind investment around the coast of Britain. This single opportunity alone is worth approximately £21 billion in steel purchases. This case study in just one sector shows the massive opportunities for the UK industry across the wide metals supply chain if there was a supportive procurement policy environment. 🔗 Read the full UK Steel report and press release https://lnkd.in/e_Gu4HqS 🔗 Download the LumenEE report https://lnkd.in/e9G7Bxdk

A brand new Combination Mill is set to roll steel into tubes to produce around 300,000 tonnes of enhanced products for the construction and automotive sectors! 👏 Our ‘combi-mill’ will also produce high-quality tube for engineering applications, farm machinery, huge bridges and more in the coming months. At one end of the Corby site, old buildings are being demolished to make way for sold land which has partially helped to fund this mammoth project . . . 🚜 ⚡ . . . And at the opposite end, electrical power, hydraulic packs and fume extraction systems and more are being fitted into the impressive new mill. All of this work forms part of a £30 million investment programme, Project Aurora, which has seen the site build this state-of-the-art mill alongside shiny new commercial offices. It won’t be long before we’re up and running, supplying more customers across the globe than ever! . . . Watch this space! 🌍👀 #TataSteel | #Construction | #UKMFG | #Investment | #Innovation
