🔒 Secure Communications - The Cornerstone of C4ISR 🔒 In the era of mobile technology, communication has become the bedrock of C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance). But with great power comes great vulnerability. From IMSI catchers to AI deepfake impersonation attacks, the threats are real and persistent. 🚫 Attackers still exploit old methods like fake base stations, fooling mobile phones into locking onto strong signals and cracking reduced encryption standards. In fact, recent incidents reveal enemy forces using transportable fake base stations launched via drones to access or even erase sensitive data. The BBC recently reported a breach in a European military meeting where unsecured communication channel usage made the hack possible. Such incidents highlight the importance of taking the security of our communications seriously. As AI deepfake technology advances, impersonation-based attacks have become convincing and dangerous. A finance worker was duped into transferring $25m after a realistic video call with fake colleagues. To combat such threats, adopting identity-based encryption protocols like the NCSC's MIKEY-SAKKE ensures secure and verified communication. Emphasising data sovereignty, organisations must use secure communication platforms to control and protect sensitive information, maintaining separation between different data classifications even on BYOD devices. 🎉 Exciting Findings on AI Adoption in UK Financial Services! 🚀 The Bank of England and Financial Conduct Authority recently shared groundbreaking insights from their 2024 survey on AI adoption within the UK financial services sector. 📊 The standout revelation? A whopping 75% of firms are already harnessing AI technology, with an additional 10% set to join this wave in the next three years. This is a significant leap from just two years ago when 58% of firms were using AI. The survey highlights some fascinating trends: ✔️ Foundation models now represent 17% of AI use cases, showing their growing role in standardising applications. ✔️ Automated decision-making (ADM) is integrated into 55% of AI deployments, although fully autonomous decision-making is still rare at 2%. ✔️ Data-related risks, especially concerning privacy and security, remain a major challenge. Interestingly, only 46% of firms feel they completely understand the AI technologies they use. Yet, accountability structures are evolving, with 84% of firms having an accountable person for AI frameworks.
