😍 On Sunday, a small but determined team of runners from our London office braced the cold to run many, many laps around Victoria Park in East London as part of the RunThrough Victoria Park event. 👣 Covering distances from 5k all the way up to a half marathon, our team wore their Team Internet t-shirts with pride whilst enjoying the glorious sunshine. 🏆 Massive congratulations to all our runners - Abigail Bowler, Nicola Henry, Daniel Adams, Cleopatra Thring, Eszter Nagy MCIPD, Tim Jenkins and Lauren Walker - for not only completing the race but committing to training through a particularly dark and dreary January and raising over £300 for Tech She Can, a charity dedicated to encouraging more women into technology through education, access and inspiring young girls to choose technology-related careers. Last week, Team Internet participated in the #D3 event where we explored the evolution of the domain industry, the impact of #blockchain and the bridge between Web1 and Web3. Thank you to Andrew Allemann for leading the opening fireside chat with our CEO, Michael Riedl. At Team Internet, we work in every aspect of the domain space – from registry and registrar services to monetisation and brand safety solutions – and it was fantastic to discuss the trends shaping the future. Some key takeaways from the discussion: 🔹 The future of #Web3 domains will likely come from enhancing the existing DNS system with blockchain technology, rather than replacing it. Ownership verification, faster transfers, and fractional ownership could unlock new value. 🔹 The integration of blockchain with traditional DNS could also lead to innovations like smart contracts in domain transactions, enabling features such as automatic royalty payments on domain resales. 🔹 Domain monetisation is changing, with innovations in parking and search arbitrage reshaping the landscape. Google’s new framework is challenging in the short term but promises a healthier long-term ecosystem for advertisers and domain investors. 🔹 The next round of new gTLDs is expected to see strong demand from Web3 companies. While some claim all the good TLDs are taken, there’s still plenty of opportunity for innovative names and use cases. 🔹 While the total growth of domains has slowed, niche markets like new top-level domains (nTLDs) and repurposed country-code TLDs (ccTLDs) are experiencing significant expansion, offering fresh opportunities in the domain space. 🔹 Marketing remains a crucial driver of success. The success stories show that the biggest domain brands didn’t just rely on organic growth – strategic investment in marketing has played a defining role.
