It’s International Men’s Day 2024! This year’s theme, “Men’s Health Champions,” focuses on one of International Men’s Day’s six key objectives: improving the health and well-being of men and boys. Today, we celebrate the positive contributions of men in our business and communities while raising awareness of the challenges they face. Why Men’s Health Matters: 1 in 5 men dies before the age of 65. Men are three times more likely than women to die by suicide. Many men face preventable health challenges, yet 40% are reluctant to seek medical help. How YOU can be a Men’s Health Champion: · Build Healthy Communities: Create environments where men and boys can thrive. · Look Out for Your Mates: A simple check-in can make all the difference. · Take Action, Stay Healthy: Embrace and promote activities that boost physical and mental health. · Create a Healthier Future: Advocate for positive change on a larger scale. Today, let’s celebrate the amazing people driving change and commit to building a healthier future for everyone. Share this post to spread the message and don’t forget to check in on your mates! #MensHealthChampions #InternationalMensDay #HealthyFutures #LookOutForYourMates

Last week at Allerton Waste Recovery Park, visitors to our free Halloween Family Open Day, helped us stay green for Halloween. Our eco-friendly, fiendish fun day included upcycling activities, crafts, quizzes and tips on how we can all reduce reuse and recycle. With the North Yorkshire Rotters, visitors enjoyed recycling games, composting demos, produced peddle-powered fruity smoothies and even created their own wormery. Visitors aged over 7 joined tours of our waste site to discover what happens to our household rubbish in York and North Yorkshire. At Allerton Waste Recovery Park, we extract some recyclable materials, an anaerobic digestion plant treats the organic waste and produces a biogas, which generates renewable electricity and an energy from waste plant burns the waste, producing enough electricity to power over 66,000 homes. Driving Day at Waterbeach! Each year, our Waterbeach site in Cambridge hosts an exciting Driving Day, and this year was no different! Employees from all our sites come together for a chance to get behind the wheel and test out some of our impressive machinery; from front-load shovels and grab cranes to telehandlers and even an Arctic lorry - there was something for everyone! With obstacles and challenges for each machine, the day was packed with learning, a dash of healthy competition and most importantly – lots of laughter! But it wasn’t just about driving – it was about connection. At Thalia, we have a wide range of roles, from our operational teams to our office staff. Driving Day gave everyone a unique opportunity to step into each other’s shoes and experience different aspects of the business. It truly embodied two of our core values: collaboration and inclusivity. A huge round of applause goes out to our Account Director and the Waterbeach operations team for creating a safe, supportive environment for everyone to enjoy. Here’s to many more days like this, where work and fun come together! #DrivingDay #ThaliaTeam #Collaboration #Inclusivity #OperationsAppreciation #MakingWorkBetter

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to see us at Recycling Expo 2024 this week! We really valued the opportunity to network with colleagues and potential partners, build industry collaboration, and share our experience and insights. At Thalia, we believe in a world where nothing goes to waste. Together with our partners, we are pioneering new ways to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover, as our seminar on gasification highlighted. And it was great to see such broad alignment around the importance of industry collaboration during our panel session on the recyclability of materials. As we move forward, we’re committed to continually pushing the boundaries of what's possible in waste management, shaping a more sustainable future for generations to come. Thanks to all who helped make Recycling Expo a successful event! #RecyclingExpo24 #WasteManagement #Sustainability #Recycling #Gasification #Innovation #GreenTech #CircularEconomy #ThailiaWasteManagement
