Successful leaders ruthlessly defend their teams; It's how they gain trust & respect. Your 'Leadership' title alone means nothing. True leadership demands more ⬇️ > It demands unwavering loyalty. > It requires a blind trust that must be earnt. Here are 5 reminders your team wish they could feedback to you: 1/ Advocate openly ↳ Speak praise beyond closed doors. ↳ Highlight wins at key moments. ☑️ Showcase achievements across the organisation 2/ Be consistent ↳ Show fairness, not favouritism. ↳ Maintain trust through clarity. ☑️ Your actions should reflect the goals you have set 3/ Encourage growth ↳ Promote learning at every turn. ↳ Create safe spaces for curiosity. ☑️ Inspire your team to achieve more than they can conceive 4/ Offer protection ↳ Shield them from toxic politics. ↳ Champion them behind closed doors. ☑️ Be the safe space for people to make mistakes & grow from them 5/ Keep promises ↳ Meet commitments without fail. ↳ Only sign up to what you can deliver. ☑️ Make your word a source of strength and reliability - - - ⬇️ How do you defend your team? ⬇️ What have you learnt from leaders that didn't defend you? Your title doesn't make you a leader. How you choose to treat your team does. The best leaders make people feel valued and seen. Appreciation is the greatest gift you can give your team - it costs nothing but means everything. What to do as a leader: ✅ Appreciate impact and contributions: ↳ Even a simple thank you goes a long way. ↳ Show genuine appreciation regularly, not just during reviews. ✅ Provide growth opportunities: ↳ Listen and understand their career aspirations. ↳ Create paths for advancement before they look elsewhere. ✅ Ask for their input when making decisions: ↳ Appreciate diverse perspectives. ↳ Create an environment where every voice matters. ✅ Make time for meaningful 1-on-1s: ↳ Ensure your meetings are safe spaces for honest discussions. ↳ Build trust through active listening. ✅ Ensure fair compensation: ↳ Regularly review and adjust compensations and benefits. ↳ Everyone deserves to be paid for their worth. What to avoid as a leader: ❌ Taking people for granted: ↳ Not feeling valued is a top reason people disengage and leave. ❌ Taking credit for your team's work: ↳ Claiming their achievements as your own destroys trust. ↳ Celebrate successes and learnings. ❌ Rewarding your high-performers with more work: ↳ Reward them by supporting their career aspirations instead. ↳ Help them grow; don't just add to their plate. ❌ Setting unrealistic goals: ↳ Don't set targets that will require regular overwork. ↳ Success shouldn't come at the cost of well-being. ❌ Disrespecting personal time and boundaries: ↳ Expecting 24x7 availability leads to burnout. ↳ Respect their lives outside of work. Be the leader you wish you had. What's one small gesture from a leader that made you feel truly valued? Let me know in the comments ⬇️ ♻️ Repost to build healthier work cultures. 🔔 Follow Dora Vanourek for more.

Vulnerability isn’t a weakness - it’s your greatest leadership strength. As leaders, we’re often told we need to have all the answers. But here’s the truth: Leadership isn’t about perfection, it’s about connection. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that vulnerability is a superpower in leadership. Here’s why: 💬 Openness encourages transparency. When we admit we don’t know everything, we create space for honest conversations. It shows our team it’s okay to be real and focus on solutions together. 🤝 Vulnerability fosters trust and connection. People don’t follow titles, they follow people. When you show your challenges, you deepen relationships and build trust. 🚀 It inspires risk-taking and innovation. When leaders aren’t afraid to fail, teams feel safe to take risks and share their boldest ideas. At first, being vulnerable can feel risky, especially when pressure is high. But over time, I’ve realized that admitting “I don’t know” or asking for help isn’t a weakness - it’s a sign of strength. If you want to create a high-performing team, lead with authenticity. 🌱 ✨ Here’s my challenge for you: Next time you’re in a tough situation, try leaning into vulnerability. Watch how it transforms your team’s dynamic. Have you seen vulnerability strengthen leadership? Let me know your experience in the comments! ♻️ Share to inspire your network. 🔔 Follow to see more of my insights: Estera Anghelescu, M.B.A.

    • The image shows a street scene during the evening with a large digital billboard. The billboard displays a message in bold black and purple text on a white background. The text reads: "People want to follow leaders who are real. Embrace authenticity." The surrounding area is decorated with trees wrapped in string lights, and there are buildings and parked cars visible in the background. The scene is illuminated by streetlights, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
  • "Teams that focus on strengths outperform others by nearly 20%." Gallup’s research reveals that teams that play to their strengths are more productive, engaged, and profitable. Yet, many leaders focus on weaknesses instead of leveraging what their team members do best. I help leaders identify and amplify their strengths, and those of their teams, leading to higher performance and greater satisfaction. 👉 Want to build a strengths-based culture?
