When you feel overwhelmed with things and there is no end in sight, go back to the drawing board... And make a list 📝 School start season is Virgo season ♍ for a reason 😉 Stationery, fresh paper, sharp pens, colourful stickers, new bags, rows of shoes and stacks of shirts... There is nothing like it. Even now, I still love freshly printed paper, and gaze lovingly at the helpful and practical little things in any stationery section of a shop. This is where it all starts, so if you've been feeling lost with keeping track of science topics, study, priorities or techniques, I invite you to begin here - download the full document for Year 7 - Year 11 from https://lnkd.in/dZHDmPiV #tutoring #science #gcse

My new camera zoom abilities! I was about to announce, just before I remembered that there are many unpublished pictures from not even a few days ago 😆 Am I to blame for really wanting to preserve the chronology of spring's unfurling? Alas, here are a couple of slightly out-of-sync maple leaves captured just as they fanned themselves out of their buds. 🍁 It's amazing that these small, folded structures give rise to the flat, wide, proud blades that catch the summer rain above us. The blades that form the shade. They represent just one of so many wonderful stories in developmental biology. Colour is such a simple property. I wanted to show you this vibrant yellow-green with fiery borders. It's so striking among the greenery, and yet I'm left frustrated. I know it was yet brighter ☀️ Go out, see for yourself! 🦋 Will "insect people" see yellow dandelions as their true insect colour, blue-pink? Truly, there will be vast realities unfolding if we connect to new senses as well as movement abilities through BCIs. But while I'm still in mine, and committed to making the most of it, and having promised you the new season of upgraded photography with my new eyes, attitude, feeling, and camera (that one helps!), here we go. 🌷 How about flowering plants? The more evolved strategy of sexual reproduction, separating parts, only to then watch them go to the ends of the Earth to reach each other again. A cruel strategy, one might say. A tease. Torture. And, yet, a very successful little game. 🎲 This was my inspiration 👇 Read more in the latest edition of Curious Natural Philosopher. _____________________________ Who are you reading this with? 💡 60% Senior, Director, CXO 27% in London, UK 10% Founders, Professors, CEOs 5% in Cambridge, UK 2.5% in San Francisco, US 40% in Biotech, Research, Pharma 5% at UCL, AstraZeneca, King's College London, GSK, University of Cambridge ➡️ Message me for sponsorship opportunities. _____________________________

🧠 Have you been musing over the Neuralink breakthroughs? The first patient was able to play one of his favourite games, chess, using just his mind with the implanted device [link inside]. 🤖 A lot of focus is placed on the action half of the nervous system: movement; I am equally fascinated by what the other half, sensation, holds in store for our future selves. Crystal clear full spectrum vision? Customisable sensory sets that perhaps create species of their own - the UV people, the miniature people, the fliers, the deep ocean breathers... 🤿 📸 But while I'm still in mine, and committed to making the most of it, and having promised you the new season of upgraded photography with my new eyes, attitude, feeling, and camera (that one helps!), here we go [pictures inside]. Some species (mosses!) just like to keep things simple. And to circle back to Neuralink co-founder Elon Musk, one of the nice things he said, just as some people lump him in with history's greats, was that all good work is equally good, no matter its perceived level or importance. We don't necessarily have to aspire to being like certain people, we can just enjoy being amongst them, and them amongst us. And, finally, the flowering plants. The more evolved strategy of separating parts, only to then watch them go to the ends of the Earth to reach each other again. A cruel strategy, one might say. A tease. Torture. And, yet, a very successful little game. 🎲 So, whether you want to throw yourself into the throes of sexual reproduction, pop in a Neuralink to transcend biology, or sit like a moss atop the world, watching it go by, there's probably a life with your name on it. The world will be happy to have you, regardless of anything, just like the dandelions are happy to be yellow to me and blue to the bee. 🐝 All this + more in this edition 👇 _____________________________ Who are you reading this with? 💡 60% Senior, Director, CXO 27% in London, UK 10% Founders, Professors, CEOs 5% in Cambridge, UK 2.5% in San Francisco, US 40% in Biotech, Research, Pharma 5% at UCL, AstraZeneca, King's College London, GSK, University of Cambridge ➡️ Message me for sponsorship opportunities. ______________________________

Happy 8th March! 💐 How are you celebrating today? 🥳 Perhaps a celebration with Mother Nature too? I’ve been really enjoying settling into spring photography over Mill Road Bridge in Cambridge. As someone who started out in science, I’m surprised to discover my artistic eye. Dr. Daria Chrobok is a lovely inspiration for this, and helps to show that we have more within us than meets the eye, including in our professional activities ☺️ I will compile a spring edition in the Curious Natural Philosopher soon. However today springs into your routine, keep that spring in your step. Have a blossoming day 🌸

I wonder if anyone knows what species this spider or this beetle (?) are. Where did I find this chunk of chalk? 🪲 At the Cherry Hinton Chalk Pits. A vast, old quarry that has been made into a protected area, not far on bike from the centre of Cambridge. There are cliffs, a few paths, some staircases across the uneven terrain, but also beautiful trees and vegetation. 🌳 It looked somewhat derelict of life from afar, so imagine my surprise when I noticed from the side of my eye this exciting action between this arachnid and this insect. I'm not sure the spider noticed anything... It's amazing what you find when the light falls just right. ☀️ You can view more pictures in the Curious Natural Philosopher on my profile.
