Pets change lives We change theirs

About us

We are a charity that provides specialist care, services, and support for pets and people throughout their life together. We cherish the profound bond between pets and their owners, recognising the remarkable difference they make in each other's lives. Our work is multifaceted, addressing a range of pet needs: Rehoming & Fostering: We care for and match homeless cats, dogs, horses, and small pets with loving families across the UK, ensuring each pet finds the right home. Veterinary: Our four animal hospitals provide care for sick and injured pets when their families cannot afford private treatment. Behaviour: We assist pets with behavioral issues upon arrival and offer ongoing support for rehomed pets. Our leading charity status in pet behaviour enables us to educate others through talks, social media, and training materials. Education: We offer talks and advice to support people in caring for their pets, both now and in the future. Pet Loss: Our Pet Loss Support Service is available 365 days a year to help those coping with the loss of a pet, with trained volunteers providing support. We recognise the importance of pet owners and work hard to improve their lives too. By supporting pet owners, we believe we can create happier and healthier lives for both pets and their human companions.

Strawberry, a resilient mare, arrived in our care late last year via RSPCA, unhandled and in desperate need of some TLC. We suspected she might be pregnant, but with no exact timeline, the team at Blue Cross UK kept a close eye on her. 🐴 Then came the surprise - a little sooner than expected, Strawberry went into labour! The team had the incredible privilege of witnessing her bring new life into the world. Her gorgeous foal, Alpine (named after a small variety of strawberry 🍓), became the first foal born on site at Blue Cross since 2019. Since that day, Strawberry has blossomed into an amazing mum, and her confidence has grown every day. She’s even allowed our expert team to handle both her and Alpine when needed - a true sign of trust. And here’s the best part: Strawberry and Alpine have just headed off to their forever home together! 💕 These moments remind us why we do what we do. Here's to new beginnings for this beautiful pair. 🏡✨ #OurPetStories #AnimalRescue #HeartwarmingStories #EquineCare #ForeverHome #MakingADifference #AdoptDontShop

    Public Affairs Officer

Last week we were in Parliament launching our Blue Cross UK manifesto  advocating for essential legislative changes to improve the lives of pets across the UK. An incredible 70+ MPs came along to hear all about the inspiring work Blue Cross does, and to discuss our calls for: • Better dog breeding practices • Responsible pet ownership • A ban on shock collars • An end to greyhound racing I could not be more grateful to the Public Affairs Team who were instrumental in helping me organise this event. We were so proud to have representatives from across the charity there too to share their expertise with MPs. All in all a fantastic day and I can't wait for the next one 💙 Our pet manifesto can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gXw6gJYT

Help Us Provide a Second Chance to Vulnerable Pets This Christmas 🎄🐾 As winter approaches, we know that many frightened and vulnerable pets will be coming through our doors – many in urgent need of life-saving care. Every year, we see a rise in animals needing help during the festive season, often due to injury, illness, or abandonment. That’s why your support is more important than ever. By donating to Blue Cross UK , you can provide the emergency items our dedicated veterinary and rehoming teams rely on to give pets a second chance. Your gift could fund an Emergency Care Box, filled with essential items such as antibiotics, a week's worth of food, and a blanket or toy to comfort a dog or cat as they recover. If you're able to donate, your generosity will help change the story for these pets. To make a donation, please click this link: https://shorturl.at/NJBqM If you're not in a position to donate, please consider sharing our campaign or raising awareness among your network - every bit of support counts in helping us provide these animals with the care they need to heal and find their forever home. Together, we can give every pet the chance they deserve this Christmas. Thank you 💙 🙏 #EmergencyCare #DonateThisChristmas #AnimalWelfare #PetRescue #GiveHope #SupportPets #OurPetStories

Meet Tiger Lily, a pregnant stray barely a year old when she was brought into our Blue Cross UK hospital, moments away from giving birth. Despite her young age, Tiger Lily gave birth to five kittens. Sadly, one was stillborn, but the remaining four are thriving under her care. After receiving the medical attention they needed, Tiger Lily and her kittens were transferred to a loving foster home where they’re getting all the care, support, and attention they deserve. As you can see, they’re already going from strength to strength. 💪🐱 Tiger Lily’s story is just one example of the growing number of cats and kittens who find themselves in need of care. At Blue Cross, we are committed to providing the best possible care to every animal who comes through our doors, but we can’t do it alone. We urge everyone to consider neutering their pets. By doing so, we can prevent more animals from ending up on the streets or in shelters like Tiger Lily did. Let’s work together to give every animal a chance at a better life. 💙 #AnimalWelfare #PetCare #NeuterAndSpay #AdoptDontShop #CatRescue #FosterCare #GivingBack

Lest We Forget: Remembering the Animals Who Served 💙 On this Remembrance Day, we take a moment to honour the bravery and sacrifice of all those who served in times of conflict - and the animals who stood by their side. From horses who carried soldiers through battlefields to dogs who played vital roles in search and rescue, animals have been a crucial part of wartime efforts. At Blue Cross UK, we’re proud to have supported these animals, providing care and comfort to those who helped and those who were affected by war. As we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we also remember the animals who gave so much. Their loyalty and courage will never be forgotten. #LestWeForget #RemembranceDay #AnimalsInWar
