What advice would you give adland’s new crop of CEOs? 🧐 Spend your first three months truly connecting. Walk the floors, have meaningful conversations with your team, and discover what ignites their passion. Be curious, listen deeply, and build trust; show everyone you’re all in this together. Engage with your clients. Find out what keeps them up at night, what challenges they face and what excites them about your partnership. Remember, what worked at your last role may not be the best fit here. Put people at the heart of your vision. Set a bold direction, inspire your team to rally behind it, and empower them to bring it to life. Once you’ve done the listening and shaped your vision, communicate it clearly, consistently and often. A great strategy only works when everyone understands the story and their role in it. The bias within AI is well documented, mirroring the systemic bias that still exists in society. I asked ChatGPT again just now to create a picture of a CEO and once again was presented with a white man in a suit. From seatbelts designed based on male crash dummies to failures in medical care due to lack of diversity in data modelling, none of this is new news. But it's beyond depressing that we're still here and the pace of AI development threatens to perpetuate rather than improve the issue. As we rush to build adland's AI capability and hire leaders to power it forward, it's imperative that diversity is brought front and centre of our hiring strategy. It's never mattered more. Thanks Campaign UK for partnering on this piece.
