In conjunction with the Jewish Leadership Council and the Merseyside Jewish Representative Council, we hosted a Strategic Engagement Roundtable made up of Members of Parliament, Merseyside Police and local council cabinet members, alongside members of the Jewish community in Merseyside.

“What do you see in our eyes At the shrieking iron and flame Hurled through still heavens? What quaver—what heart aghast? “The horrifying scenes in Amsterdam last night, where Jewish and Israeli football fans attending the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv game were attacked, should shock us all. “Some have likened the situation there to a ‘pogrom’. On the basis of reports we have seen so far, it is hard to disagree. “We want to see peace exported to the Middle East. Those who import violence instead must be met with the full force of the law. “We will be speaking to UK police and Government over the coming hours and days to ensure there can be no repeat here in the UK. We will also be engaging with the Dutch Embassy to ensure that they understand the gravity of what has occurred. “I have been in touch with Ruben Vis, CEO of the Dutch Jewish Community, to offer our full support.” – Phil Rosenberg, President

Not my usual type of LinkedIn post but rather one that shows advocacy has no office hours Currently in London for a brief break, I was about to check into my hotel when I came across a vigil organized by the The Board of Deputies of British Jews for hostages like Matan Zangauker, still held by Hamas after being abducted on October 7th. Moments like these remind me that advocacy doesn’t pause, even during personal time. Standing in solidarity isn’t bound by time or place—it’s a commitment we carry with us.

Today marks 29 years since the murder of Yitzhak Rabin Z''L. A fearless warrior for Israel and the cause of peace, his assassination was a terrible warning of the consequences of unchecked extremism. May his memory be for eternal blessing, and may we see his vision of a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict fulfilled.
