We are delighted to announce that Iaroslav Semkovych is one of the final top ten KPs of the year for 2024 by The Caterer! While we await the final results, this is already a remarkable achievement, and we are very proud of him. Iaroslav's passion for dance began at just eight years old and has taken him from performing with the Karpaty group to directing it, touring internationally in countries like Poland, Romania, and England. After facing the tragedy of losing his home during the war, Iaroslav’s resilience brought him to London, where he found new ways to share his love of dance with Prolisok, a local dancing group that helps young people discover the joy of music and movement. At The Connaught, Iaroslav has been a guiding force, sharing his passion and wisdom with his team. Please join us in congratulating Iaroslav on this well-deserved recognition. We are all cheering for him as the final winner is announced! #kpoftheyear #maybourne #theconnaught #thecaterer

We are delighted to congratulate our colleague Adrián Parcero Nieto on being named #HotelierOfTheWeek by Hotel Magazine. As a valued member of our exceptional Front Office team, Adrian exemplifies the Maybourne Mindset, bringing expertise, dedication, and a passion for hospitality to The Connaught. Congratulations Adrián!
Introducing this week’s #HotelierOfTheWeek !🥂 Adrián Parcero Nieto is Duty Manager at The Connaught. Adrián embarked on his journey in hospitality seven years ago as a Reception Intern at the DoubleTree by Hilton London - West End, working his way up to Duty Manager before transitioning to The Landmark London as Guest Relations Manager. These experiences have deepened Adrián’s passion for hospitality, leading to his current role as Duty Manager at The Connaught. Reflecting on his career, Adrián emphasised the importance of forging connections and nurturing relationships with guests, to which he revealed, “It's incredibly rewarding to see individuals return and to know they value the connection enough to share these moments with me. I also find it special when guests remember details about my life, showing that the appreciation goes both ways. It’s these genuine exchanges that make this role so fulfilling.” Offering advice for those aspiring to grow in the hospitality space, Adrián said, “My advice is to stay adaptable and always eager to learn. The hospitality industry evolves fast and one must always remain curious, showing flexibility and understanding that collaboration is the key to excelling. However, it is equally important to uphold the traditional values that shape each hotel's distinct identity. Balancing innovation with these timeless principles while fostering strong relationships with both guests and colleagues, is what may set you apart and lead to long-term success in luxury hospitality.” One memory that profoundly shaped Adrián’s career was during the major refurbishment at DoubleTree by Hilton London - West End. Adrián revealed, “With rooms being rebuilt and complaints pouring in daily, the team's morale was at its lowest. Leading through such a challenging environment was a true test of resilience and leadership. Balancing guest dissatisfaction with keeping my team motivated taught me invaluable lessons in empathy, adaptability and staying calm under pressure. This experience has been pivotal in shaping my management style and prepared me for the complexities of leading guest relations at luxury properties such as The Landmark London and The Connaught.” Adrián’s journey from humble beginnings to managing high-profile roles in renowned hotels exemplifies the rewards of passion, hard work, and commitment to excellence in the dynamic world of hospitality. As he continues to shape experiences and build relationships, Adrián’s story serves as inspiration for aspiring hoteliers embarking on their own careers in the industry.

The students were greeted by Sandra Farah, Learning & Development Manager, who organized an insightful conversation with key department leaders: Janine Moeller MIH SJS, Director of rooms; Jane Ong, Director of Housekeeping, and Andreas Cortes, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. Following this session, the students were given an in-depth tour of the hotel, providing them with a comprehensive look into our operations.
