We’re excited to announce the theme of Welcome to Your Vote Week 2025: get informed and get involved. We worked with our youth voice champions from across the UK to develop ideas for the theme. Young people highlighted being informed and engaging with politics and democracy at a local level as important to them. Every year we ask schools, colleges and youth groups to join us in celebrating democracy by delivering democratic education with their students and young people. This Welcome to Your Vote Week, support young people to access trustworthy information to get informed about politics, democracy and elections, and take the first steps to get involved locally. Whether it’s discovering who represents them in their area, exploring the issues that matter most to them, or making a positive impact in their community, there are lots of ways young people can get informed and get involved. 📅 Welcome to Your Vote Week 2025 (10 – 16 March) Sign up now to take part: https://lnkd.in/eKya-7nE

At the 2024 UK parliamentary general election, young people aged 18-25 were less likely to be registered to vote, to know what is needed to vote, and to turn out to vote than any other age group. Our post poll public opinion research identified substantial inequalities in young people’s democratic participation, dependent upon socio-economic status, ethnicity and disability. Together with The Politics Project, we have convened 40 education partners and academics to provide on the ground experience of how democratic education is being taught in classrooms across England. You can read our Curriculum and Assessment review here: https://lnkd.in/eP5PxWR3 Thank you to all partners that contributed to this work.

Have you heard of Welcome to Your Vote Week? During this annual event, we work closely with schools, youth groups, colleges and universities in the UK to help them deliver democratic education to young people. Pictured is an event we held at Platanos College in Vauxhall last year. We were joined by the school’s constituency MP, Florence Eshalomi, to help get the conversation about democracy started with young people. In 2025, Welcome to Your Vote Week will be between 10 and 16 of March. Learn more here and sign up to our newsletter to make sure you don’t miss out: https://lnkd.in/eUvx9Yck
