Meet Riley ⭐ Elifar has provided funding for some ‘Happy Feet’ sensory mats for Riley who is 5 years old and has a dual diagnosis of ADHD and ASD. The mats help Riley enormously with his sensory needs. They are colourful with different textures and as he is uncomfortable with certain textures beneath his feet these have really helped him build up his tolerance for walking on, for example, grass. He also displays sensory seeking behaviours and can play with his ‘Happy Feet’ play mats for hours! He is benefitting very much from sensory equipment within the home, providing him with help to unwind and explore the world around him🌈

Aiming to help improve lives of children & young adults with severe learning difficulty & associated physical disability
About us
The Elifar Foundation is a small charity which helps to improve the lives of children and young adults with severe learning difficulty and associated physical disability. We provide grants for a variety of items including electronic wheelchairs, specialised seating, eating aids, special beds and trikes, hoists, communication devices, sensory equipment and specialist holidays. The intense challenge of daily management at home usually means that a grant will enhance life for the rest of the family too. A large number of people with severe neurological disability are children and young adults; so the majority of the applications received by the charity are on behalf of the young. The trustees are all busy professional people and include a parent of two severely disabled children. Costs are kept to a minimum and the charity is run almost entirely by volunteers. The Elifar Foundation relies entirely on independent donations and fundraising and enjoys the support of many individuals and companies, particularly within the UK retail property industry. Take a look at the types of grant we make and at the range of individuals and organisations who work hard to raise funds to make our grants possible.

Meet Nathan ⭐ The Elifar Foundation funded a wheelchair buggy for Nathan. It has enabled the family to do many things with Nathan that they wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise. Most significantly, early in 2014 Nathan’s father, Ricky ran the Brighton Marathon whilst pushing Nathan in the buggy. His mum wrote to say: "We just wanted to thank you a few years later once again and show that the help your charity gave us has enabled our son to feel part of a huge event that he would never have experienced otherwise. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts." ❣️

Meet Kara ⭐️ Kara aged 24 is currently undertaking a postgraduate teacher training diploma having previously achieved a first class honours degree in physical education. She lives with Functional Neurological Disorder which causes chronic pain, fatigue, numbness, weakness and tremor. Her home is adapted and she navigates around it with the help of crutches, however she was greatly in need of a light wheelchair with power assistance to enable her independence outdoors and to facilitate and make safe being in a school environment. The Mustang GTM Light wheelchair with Batec power assisted front wheels was identified as the optimum choice and the amazing AFK Charity arranged fundraising via various other charities with Elifar contributing £1000 to the total cost of £9180 ! Kara reports that this has been transformational, removing the barriers and allowing her to live her best life 🌈

Meet Albie- Ray ⭐️ 5 year old Albie-Ray has a diagnosis of Autism and Global Development Delay and he is non-verbal. Standard child car seats do not provide the support that Albie-Ray requires to travel safely in a car. Elifar were pleased to fully fund this Voyager specialist car seat costing £985. His mum thanked everyone who made the purchase possible and says that Albie-Ray is very happy with his new seat because he is higher up and can see out of the window. Here he is all ready for a day at Gulliver’s World ♥️

Meet Rhys ⭐️ Elifar pledged £1100 alongside another charity to fund the necessary £2192 for this magnificent Tomcat Trike for Rhys, aged 5. Rhys is non-verbal with high sensory needs and was diagnosed with ASD in 2022. His sensory needs and cognitive function don’t always allow him to manage family walks as it can be overwhelming and over stimulating, resulting in him refusing to walk and having to be strapped into a buggy. The Tomcat offers a lightweight transportable frame, special pads for postural support and very crucially is specially designed to provide carer controls. Being on the trike makes him smile, keeps him safe and includes him in family activity. It develops his gross motor skills, stimulates his sensory needs whilst supporting his physical and mental health.
