Exciting news! 🎉 We’ve just added sixteen new BNG Habitat Banks to Natural England’s biodiversity gain sites register. Our sites now make up more than 40% of the whole register – showing that we’re the nation’s leading BNG Habitat Bank provider! Based across England, these sixteen Habitat Banks – from Environment Bank’s network of thirty live BNG sites – cover more than 850 acres, generating over 2,000 Biodiversity Units between them. And with our list of sixteen BNG Habitat Banks now on the register – and over a dozen more to be added very soon – developers can purchase these Biodiversity Units to satisfy their BNG requirements and gain planning approval from their local authority – all while benefitting nature in the local area! Read our latest blog to find out which Habitat Banks are now available on the biodiversity gain sites register: https://lnkd.in/e_cNHMED #BNG #BiodiversityUnits #Environment #BiodiversityNetGain #EnvironmentBank #BNGHabitatBanks #HabitatBank

With Environment Bank's first-hand knowledge of working with the homebuilding industry to meet their BNG requirements through our nationwide network of Habitat Banks, we were delighted to discuss the optimism and confidence within the sector as it starts to integrate BNG as BAU. • Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) offers an inspiring and hopeful mechanism to drive action by restoring nature lost via development, further increasing the importance of addressing the skills and evidence gap within the ecology field. The Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) Autumn Conference has been a very insightful morning so far, with sessions focussing on aligning best practice with governance, stream and river restoration and involving landowners in nature recovery monitoring. Drop by our stand to understand how our team are underway with more than 2,500 acres of nature restoration.

We’re one of 500+ global organisations committing to adopt Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), aligning our business with nature-related risk management and corporate reporting. Announced at COP16, this marks a 57% increase in TNFD adopters since January 2024, reflecting the growing recognition of nature as a critical factor in business risk and opportunity management.  As England’s leading provider of Biodiversity Units, our decision to join reflects our belief that organisations should disclose their nature-related risks with transparency.  TNFD provides us with a comprehensive framework to disclose our nature risks, taking the first essential step in holding ourselves accountable for reducing them. By adopting TNFD principles, we aim to:  - Understand and reduce our impact through action  - Emphasise the importance of transparency in disclosing impacts and dependencies on biodiversity (no matter how 'small’)  - Encourage other organisations to join this crucial initiative  - Support meaningful action beyond mere disclosure, as highlighted at COP16. “I’m more positive about nature than I have been in my life.”   What a fantastic event held yesterday at the University of Lincoln. We invited local businesspeople to learn more about Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) policy and how Environment Bank can help them meet requirements with our rapidly-growing network of BNG Habitat Banks. Opening our event was an inspiring speech by Professor Libby John, Dean of Sustainability at the university, who shared her optimism for nature restoration, illustrating how we all have the collective power to take action against the biodiversity crisis.   Environment Bank’s Marc Anderton MCIEEM and Nathan Jenkinson led informative discussions, providing detailed insight into one of our local examples, Minting Habitat Bank, which is already providing Biodiversity Units for developers in the area. Sat within a local landscape that has historically featured ancient tree species and rare turtle doves, we've designed this Habitat Bank to become a thriving and diverse space for wildlife, while also allowing developers to meet their BNG needs locally and invest in local nature recovery. This was our final BNG Breakfast event of the year. We’ll be back for many more in 2025. Until then, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team to learn more about our Biodiversity Units, our growing Habitat Bank network, and the expert BNG support that we offer.     #BNG #BiodiversityUnit #HabitatBank #BiodiversityNetGain #BNGBreakfast
