About us
The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences is an international professional body with members in over 60 countries. Originally founded as The Forensic Science Society in 1959 by Professor Stuart Kind and the Society is one of the oldest and largest forensic associations in the world. In 2004, the Forensic Science Society became a professional body, and the voice for Forensic Practitioners, both in the UK and abroad. In 2013 the Society was granted a Royal Charter and re launched as The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences in 2014. The main aim of the society is to encourage communication and collaboration by providing an arena in which forensic practitioners, researchers, academics and those working in related fields can congregate, communicate and invoke development of areas such as best practice, research, publication, quality and ethics in forensic casework. We are a registered charity whose structure is clearly laid out in our constitution and activities are wide reaching. The main aim of the Society is: 'To be the professional body for all Forensic Practitioners' This aim is achieved by various activities, including providing opportunities for practitioners, academics and interested parties to congregate, communicate and collaborate and providing opportunities for professional development as follows. The values of the Society are: 'Commitment to integrity and impartiality (transparency, honesty and openness)' Membership of this professional body will enrich your professional life and is accompanied by many benefits, including Post Nominals (professional members only).

It was a pleasure to be invited to speak at the The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences annual student conference (Wednesday 4 December), held in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University, on the research being carried out by the #CurtinForensic group in Curtin Molecular and Life Sciences (MLS). It was also great to hear Rebecca Henderson from University of Portsmouth/Sussex Police talk about her important work on reducing the use of single-use plastics at the crime scene. #frugalforensics #sustainabledevelopment #unsdgs #csofs

The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences reposted this
This month I was invited to attend The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences autumn conference in Leeds, as Co-Chair of the CSFS EFN (Emerging Forensic Network)! It is always a privileged to talk to people about the great work that EFN are doing, and hearing such positive feedback about the network makes the hours put in along side my job worthwhile. The conference theme of collaboration and keynotes speech from the Forensic Regulator definitely provided inspiration for the work we continue to do in EFN but also made me think about the opportunities collision investigators have to work together towards accreditation. An inciteful and educational day as always! #CSFS #Emergingforensicnetwork #Collaboration #Forensicscience #Collisioninvestigation #Forensicregualtion

The call for papers is now live for a virtual special issue in Science and Justice and it is on a topic extremely close to my heart -Sustainability and inclusivity of forensic and crime scene sciences through Learning, Training and Teaching. It is an opportunity for educators from all backgrounds to publish the brilliant work they are doing making the training and teaching more sustainable and inclusive. More details at the link below and feel free to reach out to me or one of the other guest editors to talk more about possible submissions - I can't wait to see it all come together! https://lnkd.in/gAfTzM_u
