About us
The Healthcare Management Trust (HMT) is a registered charity delivering not for profit health and social care within England and Wales. The charity operates a number of independent planned surgical hospitals Sancta Maria Hospital in Swansea as well as St Hugh’s Hospital in Grimsby. The trust is the owner of a small group of care homes Marie Louise House located in Romsey and Coloma Court based in West Wickham for those with dementia and older people. In addition, supporting other charities within the social care sector who together operate a further 340 social care beds. Dementia is the biggest public health challenge that we face as a society and the increasing prevalence of the condition has huge social and financial implications for the UK. HMT is therefore currently funding research in partnership with a range of charities and academic institutions engaged in pure and applied research into issues around dementia. As part of our selection criteria, we seek to lever improvements in care and support for dementia sufferers and their family directly out of the research we fund.

At HMT, we are proud to recognise and celebrate the loyalty, dedication and remarkable contributions of our teams through our Long Service Awards. These awards honour team members who have been with the Trust for many years, consistently putting our patients and residents at the heart of everything we do. This year, over 60 members of staff received certificates and vouchers in recognition of their long service during special events held at their workplaces. Dr Nichola Stefanou, Chief Executive Officer, of Healthcare Management Trust, said: “People know that when they come to any of our sites, they will receive high-quality care and be treated with dignity and respect in a safe environment. This would not be possible without the dedication, passion and expertise of our wonderful teams. These awards provide a valuable opportunity to recognise and celebrate the many impactful contributions our staff make in delivering exceptional service to our local community. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eW-TcDgK

Throughout the month of October, we celebrate Freedom to Speak Up Month across all our sites at HMT. It is an annual initiative aimed at promoting the culture of speaking up and making it more accessible to everyone. This year's theme, "Listen Up" highlights the importance of listening, ensuring we create an environment where individuals feel empowered to voice their thoughts and concerns. To celebrate and further engage with our colleagues, our Freedom To Speak Up Champions and Guardians have been organising 'pop-up' sessions at their sites. These sessions provide an opportunity for anyone with questions, a desire to learn more about Freedom To Speak Up, or specific concerns to engage in open discussions and seek support. Here are just a few photos of some of our teams celebrating Freedom To Speak Up. #FTSU #FreedomToSpeakUpMonth2024

As we enter Autumn, let’s look back at what Coloma Court got up to this September! Here’s a quick rundown; ⛪ So many visits to wonderful historical & scenic areas, learning all about the history of Chaldon Church and visiting the old pub nearby, 🎶 Musical acts and entertainment, from over the rainbow to being serenaded with beautiful baritone singing by Frans, 🎨 And so many promising artists, some even giving da Vinci a run for his money. Still curious? Click here to find out more about what we got up to: https://lnkd.in/efvjaz5c
