‘ people want to be useful but not used 🪫‘ Yesterday, i had the privilege to attend The Black Girls- Tech & Finance Summit, hosted by Nissy Tee mother, insurance broker, 2x entrepreneur and content creator. *FACT* Only 0.7% (UK) & 3% (US) black girls work within tech and finance 📄 The event was from 9am to 6:30pm so you can imagine all gems dropped throughout the day, but this is a breakdown on how the event went.. Abisola Barber Sherwood, CMgr CCMI shared her story from started out in politics at the age of 12 to running events in both the House of Lords and Commons, including making bills, then going studying PPE at university. She now works in financial crime as the global head at Citi, indulging us in what wasn’t a simple journey but rather a eye opening one 🛣️. Later, we broke into a round table discussion, centred around finding your steps within the tech industry, hearing from 5 respected panellists, all associations of Palantir Technologies revealing their journeys. A key takeaway.. ‘ don’t carry your long term vision into your today life - you only get ahead when you complete what’s in front of you’ ⚖️ Throughout the day we heard from numerous established women, touching on a variety of subjects.. 💡multi-generation 💡relationship development 💡future roles Finally, finishing the evening off with 2 breakout sessions from BT Group & Palantir Technologies , both explaining the skills and attributes needed to prevail in the work place. Vanessa Chiedza Sanyauke is the creator of this network, as well as, the Founder of The Hill App a platform designed to provide incredible opportunities for females, with the aim to grow into the largest talent app in the industry 📲 This event was nothing short of inspiring, from all the speakers, companies and the unified community of black woman under one roof. Had the pleasure of meeting, Marion Baba-Agba Ziana Iddi Daniela GG Brown 🫶 Big thank you to Girls Talk Corporation !! #finanace #bgtss24

BGT Summit Berlin 2024 was energetic ⚡️ Sometimes, all you need to get to the next level is a community of people, that share similar interests and values with you, to remind you that you have got this! Listening and contributing to discussions yesterday at the summit, was an amazing experience😊. And one key takeaway for me is to always remember my identity & show up in my authentic self.🧕🏾 Kudos to Vanessa Chiedza Sanyauke for creating a platform that enables a positive growth mindset. Join us at Girls Talk Corporation & The Hill App and lets grow together 💪🏽

🔥 Impeccable vibes at the #BlackGirlsTechSummit: Berlin Edition last week! It was an absolute pleasure co-hosting sessions on “Building Impactful Relationships in Tech” with Mary Njeri. Thank you to all the women who came, shared, and were vulnerable. 💗 Big thanks to Girls Talk Corporation, The Hill App and Vanessa Chiedza Sanyauke for making it all happen. 🫶🏾 Black women are amazing. 🖤 There’s a unique power in our stories, our resilience, and the way we show up for each other. ✨ When we come together, there’s no limit to what we can achieve. 💪🏾 Key insights from our workshops 💡 : 1️⃣ Own Your Story – Your journey is your superpower. Embrace it fully to create authentic connections. 2️⃣ Show Up Strategically – Be intentional about where you invest your time. Position yourself in spaces where key players are active. 3️⃣ Give Before You Ask – Lead with support and insights. Relationships thrive on mutual value. 🤝 4️⃣ Fight Imposter Syndrome – There’s only one you. Own your value and take up space. You belong here. 🌟 5️⃣ Consistency Wins – Keep in touch. Regular updates and check-ins turn connections into opportunities. Congrats to Chiedza M. for being the hostess with the most-ess 💖 Thanks to Zalando for the space 🏢 #BlackGirlsTechSummit #RepresentationMatters #AuthenticConnections #BlackWomenInTech #CommunityPower

Once again, attending the Black Girls in Tech Summit in Berlin was a truly uplifting experience! ✨ This year’s theme, The Grounding, really hit home, creating a space where we could connect, learn, and support each other. 💡🫶🏽💫 One standout session for me was the breakout on “Radical Self-Care in Times of Racial Trauma.” 🧘🏾♀️💙  It was a powerful reminder of the importance of prioritizing ourselves and finding ways to stay authentic and resilient in the workplace. Another highlight was the session on digital accessibility by Meenakshi Bhattacharya. 🌐💡 Working in customer experience, I realized I hadn’t often considered how users with disabilities navigate the products and services we offer. This session was a real eye-opener! Now, I’m eager to apply what I learned to make sure accessibility is a core part of how we support and engage all users, ensuring a more inclusive experience for everyone. And the connections! Being surrounded by such talented, driven women was so empowering. 🌱💼 The energy was contagious, and it’s clear this community is filled with strong leaders making a difference in tech. Thank you, Vanessa Chiedza Sanyauke, for building this amazing event and community for us, and for all your work in making spaces like this possible. 🙌🏽 And a huge shoutout to Chiedza M. for hosting with such ease and grace—you were fantastic! 💃🏾✨ 💪🏽 Sign up on The Hill App, designed to empower women and make it simple for global businesses to find and recruit skilled female professionals. 🌎💼 #BlackGirlsInTech #TheGrounding #WomenInTech #Community #Support #Leadership #BerlinTech #TheHillApp #GenderDiversity #FemaleTalent

Fractional Marketing Leader + Consultant | Host of The Founders Atlas | I help businesses find new avenues for revenue growth and optimisation 💥

This week has felt like a year, but one bright moment was attending the #BlackGirlsTechSummit and sitting in a room with some of the most incredible women in the city. Beyond the insightful talks, there were candid conversations and probably the most entertaining panels I’ve experienced in a long time. Plus—can we talk about the pure joy of having JOLLOF RICE for lunch at a networking event?! Here are a few of my key takeaways: 📈 Invest in yourself: You are and always will be worth the time, money, and effort. Pay for that course, hire that coach, and do what you need to get ahead. Investing in yourself also means creating boundaries that work for you. Self-care is more than taking a bath or meditating; it can also mean setting limits on personal discussions, leaving situations that make you uncomfortable, and moving on from workplaces that don’t support your development. 🙋♀️ Ask, or you won't receive: Want a raise? Ask for it. Want a promotion? Ask for it. No one will hand you anything—period. 🛠️ We have so much to learn about building inclusive products: I’m still processing Meenakshi Bhattacharya's talk on creating products for people with impairments. The realization that billions in potential revenue are lost simply because companies fail to consider accessibility is staggering. 😍 More events catered with Jollof rice, please! But above all, what will stay with me was the deep joy of seeing so many wonderful people find a place of belonging. I heard, "It's so nice to see so many Black women!" over and over. And it was true—a poignant reminder of how rare that is in Berlin. Community is crucial in every aspect of life, whether it’s the people we play sports with or those we look to as mentors. Organizations like Girl Talk Corporation do an incredible job fostering this sense of connection. If you're job searching—or looking for great talent—check out The Hill App, created by Vanessa Chiedza Sanyauke the founder of Girl Talk/Black Girls Tech Summit. Thank you to the team of organisers and volunteers, Zalando for hosting and to the folks I was able to meet and reconnect with. You made for an empowering and uplifting day amongst such uncertain times. ❤️ #GirlTalkCorporation #BlackGirlsTechSummit #BlackGirlsTechSummitBerlin #Berlin #Zalando
