Debating and mooting workshops in Birmingham for Lincoln's Inn student members (i.e. GDL/ bar course students and graduates)! Starting on 29th January 2025, I will be volunteering at debating and mooting workshops ran by The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn for Midland based GDL and bar course students and graduates. KEY INFORMATION ⏰ 5-6.30pm 📅 Once per month on Wednesday 29 January 2025, Wednesday 19 February 2025, Wednesday 26 March 2025, Wednesday 16 April 2025, Wednesday 14 May 2025, and Wednesday 11 June 2025 📍 3PB Barristers in Birmingham 👩🦱 Open to Lincoln’s Inn student members WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND? ✅ Feedback from practising members of the judiciary ✅ An opportunity to meet members of the Birmingham bar (my co-pupils from St Philips Chambers will be attending!) ✅ Networking ✅ The chance to practice your advocacy and enhance your CV ahead of pupillage applications ✅ A great way to make friends and connections (especially if you are studying remotely ie on part 1 of the ICCA bar course!) HOW TO SIGN UP Sign up via the link below: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eR94t2GY MY EXPERIENCE I loved mooting at university as you can really deep dive into an area of law and challenge yourself. I did some debating with Lincoln's Inn whilst on the bar course and I was really nervous to attend the workshops but I ended up loving it. I did not need to be nervous as it was a positive and supportive environment. It was also just a lot of fun and a way to meet new people. It would be amazing to see you there! Please invite your students along The University of Law, BPP Law School, The Inns of Court College of Advocacy and Nottingham Trent University!

🌟 Insightful Evening at The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn – Pupillage Advice 🌟 Last night, I had the privilege of attending the Pupillage Advice Evening at Lincoln's Inn, featuring invaluable insights from barristers Mark Harries KC, Antonia Benfield, and Andrew Cullen. Here are their key takeaways: 1️⃣ Be accurate and craft well-evidenced answers. 2️⃣ Master the art of language—be a craftsman of your words. 3️⃣ Speak and write with purpose, wit, and succinctness. 4️⃣ Stay personal but exercise sage discernment. 5️⃣ Understand that pressure tests your composure, not you personally. 6️⃣ Seek advice—don’t be afraid to ask! 7️⃣ Prepare thoroughly, practice relentlessly, and refine continuously. 8️⃣ Exude confidence, professionalism, and comfort in your demeanor. 9️⃣ Listen carefully to questions, take a pause, and respond composedly. 🔟 Stay updated on legal developments in your chosen practice area. A huge thank you to the team at Lincoln's Inn and the speakers for their thoughtful advice—an evening full of inspiration and learning! 💼⚖️
