We are delighted to announce that work is due to commence on a development of much-need affordable homes in Peebles, on behalf of Eildon Housing Association. Tweedbridge Court, which has been renamed locally as Caledonian Court to reflect the area’s rich railway history, is a new sustainable and energy efficient initiative which will include 22 newly built apartments featuring a mix of 14 three-bedroom lower colony homes and eight two-bedroom upper colony homes. We will be delivering the project, which has been designed to fit in seamlessly to the surrounding community, to replace the long derelict site which was also previously used for housing. Our Managing Director, Gary McGregor, said: “It is great to be starting work on this modern, energy efficient development following the confirmation of vital funding to enable works to move forward. “Caledonian Court sits on a prime location within Peebles, where the affordable housing provision needs to be increased, so we are proud to play our part in bringing these plans to fruition and breathing new life into this area of the town. “This is our first project with Eildon Housing Association, so we look forward to building a strong working relationship with them and progressing with the development over the coming months.” Neil Wilson-Prior, Eildon’s Director of Property Assets said ‘We are keen to get started with this project and help to address the housing emergency that has been declared in the Borders and across Scotland. “This development is a fantastic opportunity to also bring many benefits to Peebles including our support of local initiatives, and we’re already working with Cycling without Age whose volunteers offer a fantastic service in the town. Caledonian Court will provide storage for the Peebles Trishaw, to enable local elderly people to get out and about in the community. We are delighted we can help out with this fabulous project.” We will be working with engineers Harley Haddow and architects CSY Architects to deliver the project. #thejrgroup #affordablehomes #peeblesproject #eildonha Read more here https://bit.ly/4j9xdpo

Our JR Group Christmas elves have been out in force this festive season with a donation of over 50 boxes of vital supplies made to Glasgow-based homelessness charity Kindness Homeless. As part of our seasonal charity drive, we collected supplies such as clothing, toiletries, sweets and gifts for the charity’s Christmas shoebox collection, which provides care packages to people experiencing homelessness across Glasgow, supporting them over the winter months. The team also donated more than 800 selection boxes to charities and organisations across Scotland, providing a treat to many groups around the country, including, The Wheatley Group, Elderpark Housing Association in Govan, Williamsburgh Nursery in Paisley and Street Soccer Scotland. These bumper donations were distributed earlier this week by The JR Group elves, who hand-delivered the selection boxes – helping to provide some extra cheer this Christmas. Supporting local charities and groups in the communities which we build has always been a priority for us, so it is great to be able to give a boost to so many organisations with our selection box deliveries and our shoebox donations to Kindness Homeless. We would like to thank every member of our team, our sub-contractors and suppliers, who kindly donated these vital items this year. Our timber frame kit division, DC Timber Systems, have retained their gold status accreditation from the Structural Timber Association Ltd (STA), through its STA Assure scheme. The accolade is testament to the high quality products it delivers which in turn has seen an increase in projects for the new year with plans to recruit to expand the team in 2025. The Gold standard is awarded to businesses who can ensure a consistently high quality of structural timber products and offers complete customer assurance in the construction, offsite build and timber frame build sectors. The team have worked on a number of projects this year, including a development of 82 new energy efficient affordable homes at Upper Achintore which has brought much needed housing to Fort William; and a development in Paisley, comprising 48 affordable homes for social rent at East Lane for Loretto Housing Association, part of Wheatley Group. Ian Samson, our Managing Director of DC Timber Systems, said: “We have diligently worked to ensure our high standards are constantly maintained and this has paid off as we are delighted to retain the high status from the Structural Timber Association. “Retaining our gold standard status demonstrates our calibre and expertise to the market and offers complete reassurance for our customers. We’re hugely grateful for our workforce on operating consistently at this high level to help us maintain this achievement as a team. “We have worked on some exciting projects this year to create new homes across Scotland. We have built an excellent reputation which has resulted in building a fantastic relationship with our contractors and securing even more projects for next year which will see us look to expand the team to be able to deliver the excellent quality we are known for.” Read more here: #Scottishconstruction #timberframekits #industryaward

Members of our team recently attended The Lighthouse Charity Scotland West Annual Dinner which took place at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow. The aim of the event was to help raise awareness of the charity’s work, providing emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to workers in Scotland’s construction community and their families. To support the charity’s ongoing work, we donated around £4000 during the fundraising evening. Our Contracts Manager, Stephen Robertson, said: “The Lighthouse Scotland West annual dinner is always a fantastic event and this year, we were proud to be able to donate towards the event fundraising total to help them continue to highlight the importance of positive wellbeing and mental health support within the construction industry.” To read more, visit: https://lnkd.in/g7CSxqhE #Constuction #Wellbeing #LighthouseCharity

We were delighted that JR Scaffold was recognised at the Warmer Homes Scotland Subcontractors Awards recently, coming highly commended in the Warmworks Values Award for Teamwork. We have a long-standing partnership with Warmworks, building strong relationships with their contractors and supporting hundreds of their energy efficiency installations on homes every single month. We were praised for a particular example which saw us respond to concerns from a Warmworks customer that scaffolding had perhaps come loose during bad weather following a solar panel and battery installation on their property in Caithness. The scaffolding was found to be safe and secure, but we ensured that we spoke with the customer promptly and worked with our extensive network to arrange for a local engineer to visit the property as urgently as possible, and then subsequently removed the scaffolding for them. Our team will always go above and beyond to ensure that each project is executed to an excellent standard and that we promptly deal with any queries, but it is heart-warming to see the impact these small interactions can have, not just for our partners, but also for their customers. Teamwork, efficiency, problem solving are all at the heart of the business so it is wonderful to have this recognition from Warmworks and just goes to show how going the extra mile can leave a lasting impression. #scaffolding #subcontractor #Scotland #energyefficiency

We’re delighted to see residents move into their new energy-efficient homes in Livingston following the completion of a project we delivered to bring 20 new sustainable homes to the area. Completed on behalf of Ark Housing Association, the development includes 18 apartments with a mix of one- and two-bedrooms, plus two three-bedroom houses. Six of the apartments are also fully wheelchair accessible. Built for the future, the homes at Crusader Rise in the Dedridge area, include pioneering energy efficient technology such as solar panels, air source heat pumps and electric car charging ports. Our Projects Director, Andrew Dallas, said: “We have delivered 20 high-quality, sustainable homes in Livingston which were made available for social rent. It is great to see residents begin to move into these homes, particularly at a time when new affordable homes are much-needed right across the country. “It is also becoming increasingly important that new homes are equipped for the future. These homes include a number of sustainable elements that will help to keep energy costs down and lower their carbon footprint. “There are a number of schools and nurseries located close to Crusader Rise which we supported with various donations while undertaking the project. It is a core part of the business to support the wider communities we are building in where we can.” The JR Group worked alongside construction and property consultants, Summers-Inman; QB Wood | Architects and Fairhurst Engineers to deliver the project.
