Magazine Groupe Clarins #menopauseawarenessday photo shoot which I was invited along to share my own #menopause journey. Well that was an unexpected surprise for a Sunday morning! Thanks #rishisunakmp #bobblackmanmp for popping into my local for lunch! So pleased got the chance to quickly thank the PM in person for inviting me to give a #menopauseintheworkplace talk to the #10downingstreet staff - he agreed how important it is to support women struggling with their menopause symptoms to stay in their jobs. Hoping menopause support and education will stay front and centre of the womens health strategy, no matter whose voted in on July 4th 🙏

As we approach our 8th birthday next month, I’ve been thinking a lot about the past & the immense achievements made by so many, which have helped pave the way to the current menopause climate we find ourselves in today. In 2018 (6 years ago now!) I attended the first of many round table meetings with cross party MPs at Westminister to launch & support Diane Danzebrink #makemenopausematter campaign alongide Dr Louise Newson and some other passionate menopause campaigners & drs. On the back of this relentless campaigning and lobbying activity, menopause has been added to the English secondary school curriculum & included as part of mandatory assessments for UK medical students too. Hundreds of workplaces now also have policies & support in place & due to so many of us providing both written & oral evidence, menopause was positioned front & centre of the women’s health strategy. These were the main campaign aims which have now mostly all been achieved alongside over 200,000 signatures on the petition. As more & more high profile voices have shared their stories & campaigns over the years too incl the fabulous documentaries & books from #davinamccall Dr Naomi Potter Kate Muir Avrum Bluming #caroltravis Alice Smellie #mariellafostrup #andreamclean #drphilippakaye MegsMenopause LTD & #menopausemandate it is reassuring to know that as, I have personally begun to feel like I’m running out of steam, after almost a decade spent fighting for this cause, a whole new generation of campaigners will continue on….💪 (there’s always more that can & needs to be done!) Standing firm in order to make lasting change takes time, patience & dedication. It’s never been about money or being in the limelight but about ensuring that the next generation don’t suffer in silence like we have. I’m proud of all we have achieved together - as they say it takes a village to move a mountain & boy have we all moved mountains! I want to acknowledge in particular the vision provided by grass roots community leaders such as Diane who have quietly just got on with the job in hand. We are asking for your help to encourage all women to know their normal… Through May, our charity partner - The Eve Appeal - the UK’s leading gynae cancer charity, is uniting with some of the biggest names in health and beauty – to help raise awareness of the five gynae cancers. Working alongside some of the country’s leading experts their aim is to encourage everyone to know their normal, break down taboos and lift the veil of the shame around gynae health. Each day in the UK, 60 women and people with gynae organs receive the tough diagnosis of one of the five gynaecological cancers: womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal. Sadly, 21 of these people will die each day. Awareness and communication of gynaecological health is dangerously low. How can you help raise awareness?
