The use of both legal and illegal drugs in young people is an ever-growing issue that demands our attention. Substance misuse is one of the most common risks to a young person’s health, and research shows that looked-after children are more vulnerable to substance and alcohol use. For carers, it is crucial to acknowledge the complexities of drug use, whilst also understanding how to broach the issue with compassion and care. Our Alcohol and Substance Misuse Training Course is designed to empower carers and support young people. The course covers key topics, such as the legality of drugs and alcohol, the early signs of drug use, and how to support a young person who misuses substances. We hope that by raising awareness on illegal substances, and prioritising early intervention, we can empower young people to make healthier choices and reach their full potential.
