Yesterday, we attended the Futurescot Digital Scotland Conference 2024, connecting with industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to explore Scotland’s digital transformation. 🌍✨ Key discussions included AI, robotics and the next generation of government digital services. The conference was chaired by the fantastic Kim McAllister (Senior Communications Consultant at Connect, BBC radio presenter & Event Host). As a partner hub, we also made sure to stop by the Data-Driven Innovation exhibition stand! 🚀 Data-Driven Innovation Initiative Heriot-Watt University The University of Edinburgh Stephanie Peebles, MIED #DigitalScotland2024 #DS24 #DigitalScotland #Innovation #AI #Robotics #DataDrivenInnovation #robotics #AI #Ameca #HumanRobotInteraction #TrustInRobots #HelpingPeople #Helpinglearning #HelpingSociety #TheNationalRobotarium

Thank you to members of The Scottish Parliament Economy and Fair Work Committee for visiting us at the #NationalRobotarium this week. Members have been touring innovation hubs to find out how the region has benefitted from investment via the #ESES City Region Deals.🪙 CEO Stewart Miller hosted a tour of our high-spec labs for Human-Robot Interaction (#HRI) and Robotics and Autonomous Systems (#RAS), showcasing how the world-leading facility for #robotics and #AI has prospered since opening in Sept 2022, developing new technologies, creating jobs and driving economic growth. 📈 Findings from the Committee's consultation will be available early 2025 - more information can be found at: https://lnkd.in/gd3gvBnu [Image L-R Daniel Johnson (Labour) Convenor Colin Smyth (Labour), #Ameca, Stewart Miller, Lorna Slater (Green) and local MSP Gordon MacDonald (SNP)] Heriot-Watt University | Data-Driven Innovation Initiative | The University of Edinburgh

We were thrilled to host the Heriot-Watt Robotics Society MarioKart Competition, which took place at the #NationalRobotarium on Wednesday 20 November. Members have been working on their carts over the last 5 weeks, based on a design created by the Robotics Society, but customised and improved by members. Members then raced around the custom-built arena, with tunnels, bridges, and other challenging obstacles, trying to win trophies with the fastest lap. Everyone there, both organisers and members, had a great time, with plenty of laughs and last minute fixes/modifications to optimise their design. Congratulations to Rory for winning the time trial, and Louis for winning the creativity award! National Robotarium staff and Heriot-Watt University lecturers also popped along to learn more about the society, and to share insights about ongoing robotics research with members. Joint-presidents of the Robotics Society Bruce Wilson and Liza Masson said: “We had an amazing time organising and hosting the MarioKart workshop. Over the course of 5 weeks we taught around 25 members the basics of electronics, assembly, programming, and power management, culminating in our competition last Wednesday. "Everyone there had a great time, and even with some robots not quite being ready when they arrived, we managed to get them driving before the end of the day! "Huge thanks to our committee members, Sepehr, Ghofran, and Lewis. A huge additional thanks to our sponsors: CENSIS, The Watt Fund, AstraMakes3D, and the National Robotarium!” Heriot-Watt University Data-Driven Innovation Initiative The University of Edinburgh #robotics #ComputerScience #education #innovation #FutureRoboticists #TheNationalRobotarium
