📢 Meet David Csaszar AMNIS, a nautical student at the University of Gibraltar and one of The Nautical Institute’s Younger Member Ambassadors (YMA). 🌊 David has been wind sailing from a very young age and has always admired life at sea. His first paid role as an assistant sailing instructor inspired him to pursue a maritime education. 🎓 His goal is to earn a master’s degree while working as a deck officer in the cruise industry and, one day, become a captain. ⚓ He joined The Nautical Institute to connect with a global community of seafarers and maritime professionals who openly share guidance and advice to support career development. He also values the wealth of educational resources available to members. 🚢 As a YMA, David aims to promote the benefits and networking opportunities that membership of The Nautical Institute offers to students and young cadets. He also believes the role will enhance his leadership skills and support his career ambitions. 🤝 David is part of a global network of 70 YMAs, appointed from educational programmes, colleges and the early stages of maritime careers. Together, they are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment for the next generation of maritime professionals. 👏 Join us in congratulating David on his appointment as a Younger Member Ambassador and celebrating his continued journey towards maritime excellence. 👉 Find out more about membership options here: https://shorturl.at/NwSjn #NauticalInstitute #NIMembership #FutureLeader

⚓ Building on the momentum from the Fish Platform conference held in Cape Town in November, where our CEO John Lloyd FNI advocated for continued professional development and safety in the fishing industry in partnership with the Thrive in Fishing initiative (a collaboration with The Seafarers’ Charity), The Nautical Institute remains committed to advancing international fishing safety. On Tuesday 10th of December Capt Jeff Parfitt FNI, Head of Safety and Environment participated in a session hosted by the Fisheries Innovation & Sustainability (FIS) group at Fishmongers’ Hall in London. 🐟 The FIS group is a dynamic UK organization dedicated to advancing technological innovation in the fishing industry. Its key areas of focus include smart trawl systems that allow for selective catching of target species and the adoption of alternative fuels to reduce environmental impact, which is of particular interest to us. The session offered an invaluable opportunity to align The Nautical Institute’s safety and environmental projects with wider industry efforts, while engaging with key stakeholders across the sector. We had fruitful discussions with representatives from the FIS, the Young Fishermen’s Network (YFN), the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Fisheries, and Lloyd's Register Foundation. 🤝 It was also a pleasure to reconnect with familiar faces from the FISH Platform and The Seafarers’ Charity. Great to meet Dr. Daryl Attwood of Lloyds Register Foundation, Robert Greenwood MNM AFNI of the FISH Platform By participating in events like these, The Nautical Institute continues to foster collaboration and innovation, reinforcing its dedication to a safer and more sustainable future for the fishing industry. #NauticalInstitute #FishingSafety #Collaboration
