The multiplier effect of spending with small local businesses is well documented. Who will be in town on Saturday 7th? I'll meet you for a cuppa.
Small Business Saturday is an annual event taking place the first Saturday of December. This year it's 7th December, traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year! The Small Business Saturday UK Roadshow is visiting Plymouth tomorrow (22 November) to spotlight and support small businesses in Plymouth to mark the official countdown the big day! Small Business Saturday is a nationwide campaign encouraging customers to shop local and support small businesses. Keeping a strong, local economy is one of the key policies of a inclusive, thriving economy. Every £1 spent in local businesses can generate up to £1.76 for the local community. This supports diverse businesses and communities. The ripple effect means more jobs and a more sustainable, diverse high street, it's a circular, supportive economy! So, shop local whenever you can. Not just on the 7th December. Spend your money with business who will make your area - and Plymouth as a whole - a better place to live, learn and work. It's Carers Rights Day. At Plymouth Charter, we believe that acknowledging the diverse needs of our staff is essential for fostering a happier and more productive environment. By providing flexible working arrangements, mental health resources, and opportunities for professional development, we empower our teams to balance their personal and professional lives effectively. When employees feel valued and supported, they are more engaged, motivated, and ready to contribute their best. Let’s continue to champion the rights of carers and create a workplace where everyone can thrive. Here's Tom talking about his experience of balancing work and his home life, and how the YMCA Plymouth supports those with caring responsibilities, and why. Our free toolkit is to provide more information on how to support people, at work, with caring responsibilities. https://lnkd.in/eGRnV56Z Tom Lavis YMCA Plymouth Plymouth City Council #CarersRightsDay #SupportCarers #WorkplaceWellbeing #FlexibleWorking #PlymouthCharter #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkLifeBalance
