Supporting the health & wellbeing of the policing profession
About us
The Police Treatment Centres is a registered charity supported by voluntary donations from serving police officers primarily in the northern forces of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but also from British Transport Police, the Civil Nuclear Constabulary and the Ministry of Defence Police. Officers currently make a donation of £1.30 per week from their pay. The charity provides two Treatment Centres where serving and retired police officers can receive rest, recuperation and treatment following an illness or injury with the aim of assisting their return to better health. The Centres are St Andrews, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and Castlebrae in Auchterarder, Perthshire. Almost 4000 serving and retired officers attend the Treatment Centres each year and most receive intensive physiotherapy. Others seek support with stress-related conditions and some attend for reasons of respite or to recuperate following an illness or operation.

This week we had members of Police Scotland’s Senior Leadership Team with us at Castlebrae, utilising our conferencing and meeting facilities for training. The training was facilitated by Columba 1400, an award-winning charitable social enterprise based in Scotland that specialises in leadership training. Hosting the event was not only a good opportunity to show-off our facilities but was also a worthwhile exercise in strengthening our link with the senior leadership team of Police Scotland.

Today our CEO hosted a visit from Tom Gordon MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough Tom was exrtremely impressed by our facilities and treatment programmes. The visit provided an opportunity for us to encourge Tom to advocate on our behalf in seeking out any available grants from the government and to encourage government representatives to come and visit us to see first hand what our provision entails.

This morning we held our first local networking morning and we had a great turn out from local businesses and suppliers. It was lovely to make some new connections and show off the facilities that most had never seen or even know much about. Thank you to Paul Cording BEM H2k Botanicals Bidfood UK for supporting the event
