“Premier League Kicks means support, family and a safe environment just to be yourself.” Arran’s journey with Premier League Kicks began a decade ago as a volunteer. He later progressed to a coaching role and began mentoring young people, helping them to engage in positive pathways. Now a Youth Engagement Officer at West Ham United Foundation, Arran’s work on #PLKicks led to his nomination as West Ham United FC's Premier League Community Captain. Earlier this month, Arran was honoured for his dedication and support for the young people of east London at a surprise presentation featuring actor Idris Elba, first-team manager Graham Potter, captain Jarrod Bowen and West Ham Women forward Princess Ademiluyi. Young people from our Premier League Kicks sessions at Marvell College helped staff organise Hull City programmes at The Tigers Trust Arena yesterday. 🐯 This carefully organised, season-by-season collection will be featured in our new 𝑹𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒐 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑨𝒓𝒆𝒂, where the public can drop by and explore the archives! 📖 Additionally, these materials will be shared with various care homes across Hull and East Riding as part of our Forever Tigers project, supported by #PLFansFund. 👉 https://lnkd.in/ehVKa-86 The Premier League Charitable Fund #PLKicks | #PLCommunities

As part of the Premier League's More Than A Game Campaign, we were able to bring Idris Elba to East London to visit a Premier League Kicks session hosted by the West Ham United Foundation - https://lnkd.in/exqa_3YM As you may have seen over the previous months, Idris has been using his platform to lobby the government and other decision-makers on the topic of knife crime and youth violence across the country. Anyone who knows me knows this is an extremely personal topic for me; the murder of a close childhood friend has been the inspiration for my career, and the pain and trauma that me and my friends went through continues to motivate me to help support people and communities to this day. As part of this activation and away from the media, we wanted to bring together a roundtable discussion with experienced Premier League Kicks practitioners from London, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and the West Midlands who could talk with Idris and senior Police reps in great detail on the important work that Premier League Kicks is doing across the country to provide safe spaces, positive role models and employability pathways for young people and the role that all of this can play in keeping young people safe. Given my lived experience and passion for this topic, I was excited to chair this important discussion. Still, it felt really special to have someone as influential as Idris Elba share that passion and really want to get into the details of the challenges facing young people in our communities and talk about solutions. A massive thank you to Arran Johny, Francis Hargreaves, Kate Roberts, Lathan Forrester and Pablo Blackwood DL for joining me and sharing their personal experiences of being involved in the project, including some really challenging moments, and also highlighting the unifying impact that football can have in communities. Let's have more of these conversations!!

🏆 Today, we held our annual #PLInspires Challenge, with eight secondary schools joining us at The Brick Community Stadium to speak about their ideas to improve and raise awareness of gender equality across Wigan! Students also enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the stadium! 🗣️ Students spoke about some incredibly innovative ideas and campaigns ranging from improving the accessibility of kit and equipment to making areas of Wigan safer for women to engage in sport. We were joined by some fantastic judges, including Wigan Athletic's non-executive director Lucas Danson, the Premier League's Head of Community Engagement Emma Joussemet, Trustee and former GB athlete Jenny Meadows and Wigan Warriors Head of Youth Development for Women and Girls Genna Banks! Up Holland High School were selected as the champions for their fantastic idea to improve the lighting and facilities around The Brick Community Stadium to make it a safer and more accessible place for women to exercise. #wafc 🔵⚪️ | #PLMoreThanAGame | The Premier League Charitable Fund
