Starting the new year always feels like a chance to reflect, reimagine, and recommit to the work that truly matters. As I organized my thoughts for 2025, I came across James Tennet’s article, Naming the Barriers: Why Shifting the Power in the Social Impact Sector is so Difficult. It stopped me in my tracks because it speaks so directly to what we do at ConnectED Fellows—and why it’s so transformative. In our work with rural communities in Guatemala, I’ve learned that true impact happens when we recognize and celebrate the richness that communities bring to the table. And this richness isn’t just about resources or outputs—it’s about trust, collaboration, and the kind of wisdom that comes from generations of resilience and leadership. When we let communities take the lead—when they identify their priorities and co-create the solutions—they bring something far greater than what money can measure. They bring values that sustain real, lasting change. At ConnectED Fellows, we believe that shifting the power is about more than just supporting communities. It’s about walking alongside them, trusting their voices, and celebrating the richness they offer. This is how we create systems that truly work, not just for today but for the future. Here’s to 2025—a year to amplify voices, honor collaboration, and build together. If this resonates, I encourage you to read James Tennet’s article from the The Resource Alliance Leadership Programme: https://lnkd.in/eqwS3a2p Let’s keep the conversation going and make this the year of meaningful, collective impact! #ShiftingThePower #ConnectED #CommunityRichness #GrassrootsLeadership #Purpose2025

Titled 'Despair is a luxury' Ingrid, chair of the board of The Resource Alliance shares the many humble leaders, role models (system) change makers - who do not always reach the spotlight in the media, but SO deserve it. A motivational and inspirational read and start of 2025!
I learned only one lesson in 2024.
Despair is a luxury.
