Thank you so much, Willeke van Rijn, for the kind words and for recognizing our work. I’m grateful to be part of this amazing global community that The Resource Alliance has nurtured and share this journey with many inspiring changemakers. They remind us that even amidst challenges, collective action and commitment to doing the right thing can create transformative change
"The more you do the right thing, the harder it is to do the wrong thing" This quote from Maria Ressa is so simple and yet so powerful and true. A reflection of the year 2024 of course starts with a challenging world as we're in the midst of a #polycrisis. Yet, within that crisis we see so many living heroes, doing incredible things at a global, national, local level - just to do the right thing. They do not always get the attention they deserve, or are not breaking news items. Yet, they are the driving force in the world we live in at the moment. At The Resource Alliance we are in the luxury position of meeting some of them and showing their work, impact, and, exchange the "how to" - for others to build on their learnings, to be inspired and motivated or seek collaborations. I name a few of them: Jady, Archana and Mathilde - young leaders who created change in their countries from breaking poverty cycles, to building movements and impacting policy change resulting in 50,000 schools with running toilets - see more here: https://lnkd.in/ejijZGWJ Or Hani and Chef Mahmoud (RIP) with the Gaza Soup Kitchen, feeding 100s of families. Think about the impact of our board member Asha Curran's work with showcasing generosity of millions of people via the #GivingTuesday campaigns across the world. Or Svitlana, Liudmyla and the Ukrainian civil society consortium, bringing fundraisers and campaigner together to initiate their first conference and form a community, bringing solutions and inspiration. Imagine we would share all our examples about "doing the right thing" - and amplify their stories and impact. We will overshadow the "wrong thing to do"! Thanks to everyone for doing the right thing and for being living heroes.

When there is widespread agreement that we need to rethink deeply entrenched power imbalances as a sector, why does meaningful progress remain elusive? Our #ShiftThePower Action Lab, part of our 2024 Leadership Programme, grappled with difficult questions like: • Why do Global Minority perspectives dominate, even when resources are shared? • How do mindset barriers — more than policies — keep control in the hands of a few? • What concrete steps can we take to meaningfull empower local leadership? Our leaders explored this conundrum in a wide-ranging discussion and the result is a provocative thought-piece that explores the real barriers preventing systemic change in our sector — from the persistence of donor-driven accountability models to the unspoken cultural and mindset barriers that perpetuate the status quo. A snippet from our last keynote of the year on the power of responsive campaigning ⚡️ We wrapped up our 2024 sessions with an insightful & inspiring keynote with Tracy Makheti from Greenpeace Africa and Forward Action’s Ali Walker Davies. Some highlights from the session: 🏄🏾♀️ The Surfer’s Mindset: Ali introduced the concept of “riding the wave”, encouraging readiness to act swiftly when the moment calls for it - like a surfer prepared to jump on the perfect wave. 🇰🇪 The Kenya forest campaign: Tracy shared Greenpeace Africa’s powerful campaign to reinstate a logging ban in Kenya’s community and public forests. This grassroots movement mobilised over 40,000 supporters and was the organisation’s most successful fundraising campaign of the year. ✊🏿 Actionable tactics: We learned how to turn clicks into real change, from gathering actionable data to building long-term relationships with supporters. 🫶🏻 Empowering communities: Tracy emphasised the importance of enabling individual people and local groups to lead campaigns, proving that collective action is a catalyst for success. 🔑 Key takeaway: Responsive campaigning isn’t just about reacting, it’s about preparing. Whether you’re leveraging cultural moments or navigating a fast-moving news cycle, success lies in being proactive, agile, and community-centered. If you joined this session or any of our online sessions or events in 2024, we’d love to get your thoughts! We’re finalising our 2025 programme of content, with some very exciting changes coming your way, and we want to know how we can help you do your best and most powerful work. #Fondsenwerving #IFC2024 #TheResourceAlliance #Verbinden #Vakblad

Our Main Diploma students have spent the year teaching basic English to over 5,000 children from rural government schools across tea estate communities. Their dedication to empowering the next generation has been nothing short of inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and passion for making a difference. 💛 📹 A huge thank you to Carolina Fernandes, a talented volunteer from Portugal, who captured these special moments and generously shared her filmmaking skills with us. 🌍 At Tea Leaf Trust, we believe in the power of education to transform lives.
