About us
The Selby Trust was set up as a charity in 1992 by local people who recognised the need for a multi-purpose centre led by the community and third sector organisations. It was supported by the late Bernie Grant MP, who had a vision for a place in the community that people could afford and call their own. Selby registered as charity in May 1994 and Company Limited by guarantee in May 1993. At the Selby Trust we manage community facilities such as the Selby Centre which brings together a rich mix of individuals and organisations, primarily from BME, refugee and other historically excluded communities in Tottenham, Haringey, North London and beyond. The Selby Trust has helped deliver valuable resources to the local community for many years, and looks to continue to help the community in innovative ways as we respond to the latest challenges within society.

An inspiring start today thank you THE SELBY TRUST for inviting me to hear more on the vision for the exciting development of Selby Urban Village. Fantastic passion on display from Edward Ihejirika, Paul Butler and Jack Skinner. It was brilliant to have the support of our Foriegn Secretary David Lammy, focusing on the community benefits the Trust brings, education, employment, aspiration and resilience. And great that Phil Oram Crown Workspace was able to join and hear about the value existing and future support that The Giving Back Project brings to Selby. This project has such huge potential for such meaningful and lasting social change, but still needs the support of more businesses who can make quantifiable social impact. Here’s what’s in store for the Selby Urban Village, pending outcomes in February 2025: 🏢 New Community Centre: A vibrant hub for cultural celebrations, enterprise, and innovation—a space where our diverse communities can thrive! 🏠Affordable Council Homes: 200+ new homes for local families, along with space for a small local shop. ⚽️Sporting Facilities: From a 3G pitch to cricket nets, a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), and a clubhouse!
