I'm a great fan of SOFII and the way that they open up fundraising excellence to all through their case studies. I love this article about the Royal Ballet and Opera's "Pointe Shoe Appeal". It's all there: tangibility, connection, personalisation and segmentation all underpinned by great storytelling. If you're a fundraiser and you haven't signed up for SOFII e-mails yet, then do it!

🩰 This fundraising appeal is ‘on pointe’. Each year, dancers at the Royal Ballet and Opera go through over 6,000 pairs of pointe shoes. One pair costs about £50 – that‘s roughly £300,000 to provide enough shoes for the company to dance through a Season (year of productions). To help raise these vital funds, the Royal Ballet and Opera have been sending supporters a variation of their ‘Pointe Shoe Appeal’ for over 20 years. Rich with storytelling, this classic direct mail campaign brings the donor closer to the dancers wearing the pointe shoes. Today, Lewis Hammond gives you an inside look at this campaign. He talks about the history of the appeal, as well as the tweaks and tests that are ensuring supporters can continue helping dancers for years to come.
