Today is the last working day of 2024 for us here at The Social Change Nest, as our team takes a break to celebrate and rest over Christmas 🎄 The office will be closed from this evening until the 2nd of January, so we’ll get back to any emails in the new year. We’d like to give a big heartfelt thanks to all of the groups, funders and partners we’ve collaborated with this year. We can’t wait to see what next year holds for us all. ☃️ Merry Christmas and happy new year! 🎆

We break the barriers, you ignite the change.
About us
At The Social Change Nest (SCN), we’re radically transforming the funding landscape and strengthening civil society. We remove the financial and administrative barriers - like bank accounts and legal structures - that often prevent communities, grassroots groups and informal movements from accessing funding and focusing on their core mission. We also work closely with funders, providing Grant Distribution and Fund Management services, enabling them to support social action with confidence and transparency. We currently support over 600 groups across the UK and abroad addressing issues such as social injustice, climate, housing, wellbeing and animal rights. We are at the forefront of Fiscal Hosting in the UK and, since our inception in 2021, we have supported groups in securing over £23m in funding, helping them take advantage of opportunities that may have otherwise been unavailable. The Social Change Nest is part of The Social Change Group. We are a Disability Confident Employer, and an accredited Living Wage Employer. In addition, we were listed as one of the top social enterprises in the UK in the SE100 for the last three years.

🌟 Who might use a Fiscal Host? 🌟 All sorts of groups use Fiscal Hosting, for a variety of reasons. We host grassroots groups, funders and incorporated groups, but often we support: 🔹 Volunteer-led groups who need a space to hold funds, so they can receive donations and pay out expenses. 🔹 Groups that aren’t legally registered, but have been awarded a grant and need a legally registered organisation to sign for and receive the funds. 🔹 Groups starting up new community projects.

✨ Still not sure what a #FiscalHost is? As a legally registered organisation, we hold money on behalf of community groups, social movements or projects that don't have the capacity or desire to register as a formal legal entity. We: 🔸 Act as the group’s agent, facilitating the receipt and administration of funds on behalf of groups. 🔸 Provide the infrastructure and guidance needed to help groups access funding opportunities, deliver on their commitments to funders, and develop the governance and operational capacity needed for their future sustainability. Let us know if you have any questions, we’re always happy to help! ✨

“For me, real progress lies in grassroots work—mobilising communities, fostering solidarity, and challenging mindsets; building a collective movement for liberation and justice from the bottom up” 👏 👏 Roukagia (“Ru-ka-ya”) A. Executive Director of Muslim Northern Women describes personal first-hand experience of Islamaphobia and how the group aims to uproot and dismantle it ➡️ https://lnkd.in/enaPNWea
To wrap up Islamophobia Awareness Month 2024, our founder shares one of her personal stories which provides a small insight into the systematically ingrained nature of Islamophobia: a gross, oppressive injustice which is deeply rooted in neo-colonialism, white supremacy and state-sanctioned violence. 🔗 Read our first blog now on https://lnkd.in/enaPNWea 📧 If you would like to be featured in our next blog or would like to submit your own article on our MNW Blogs page, contact our team on contact@muslimnorthernwomen.org. #systemschange #islamophobia #muslimnorthernwomen #MNWBlogs #antioppression
