😀 It’s all about the smiles for Wiggly Charity! It’s been a challenging year for our small charity as it has for many others, but also a year of much progress, growth and joy. We strive everyday to support vulnerable people through food, building confidence in the kitchen and teaching life skills to boost independence. 👀 Take a look at our 2024 for a flavour of what we do: happy faces, proud moments, increased confidence, social connections and meals made with love ❤️ 🤓 To get to the nitty gritty - this year, we have: 🍽️Tripled our reach to reach over 2450 people via 24 individual project across the year; 🍽️Delivered over 3300 meals to the community; 🍽️ Sharpened our focus on food waste and donated over 540kg of surplus food to food pantries 🍽️ Worked with more volunteers, providing over 230 volunteer hours 🍽️Delivered over 415 hours of cookery tuition 🍽️With our good partner WE ARE PROJECT GROW CIC, developed and produced 5 very special #SocialSource products, now on sale in 5 independent retailers in Gloucester and Cheltenham 🍽️Extended our reach in the county, working across nine districts in Gloucestershire; 🍽️Deepened our long-standing close partnerships and created new ones with some fabulous organisations. We have been proud to be part of this project this year. Big thanks to Ryan Harris for supporting so many people to learn to cook 👨🍳 The consistent feedback from participants was that this project has become a regular fixture in their week and they’d like it to continue. They’ve learned so much and built new social networks. Our cookery sessions offer our learners a place of safety and mental respite from their daily worries. Being comfortable in the kitchen, learning to create nutritious dishes in a calm and welcoming environment and cooking with good food can be incredibly therapeutic for mental health. The link between food poverty, good food and mental health is proven.
