Why did they do this? Just as cold water shocks the system, mental health struggles can often hit unexpectedly, making everyday challenges feel overwhelming. Reece and his partner Shona have gone through a traumatic time in their lives as, after a heroic and very brave fight, they lost their son Ari just before Christmas. Woodley Coles LLP celebrates National Apprenticeship Week as a proud provider of apprenticeship opportunities for local talent! 🏗️👥💙 For many years, we have committed to training and supporting the next generation of construction professionals. Our current apprentices are thriving in the workplace, actively supporting senior members of staff on a range of projects with enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn. In the midst of National Apprenticeship Week, we asked our trainee surveyors their views on the apprenticeship route: Ryan Willis is in his second year of his BSc Quantity Surveying degree and believes "apprenticeships are an incredible tool to gain valuable experience and real, practical knowledge from professionals with varying experiences, all whilst working towards an accredited degree and earning a salary as opposed to student debt". Toby Norris and Finley Hickmott joined us in 2024 and have enrolled on the Quantity Surveying & Construction Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship. Toby feels the main benefits of an apprenticeship is the "hands on work experience and gaining a better understanding of the industry and discipline whilst leaving you in a much better financial and career position." Finley has said "I enjoy doing tasks in the office as I feel I am learning skills I may not learn from university whilst completing tasks that have meaning behind them and are contributing towards something real." Woodley Coles LLP completes Discovery Park's 10,000 Steps Challenge in January totalling over 2.5 million steps - equivalent to circa 1,100 miles! 🚶 Huge well done to all that got involved in the challenge, especially Andrew Diplock, Emily Robertson MRICS and Chris Norris, MRICS, Bsc(Hons) who all exceeded the 10,000 step per day target. It was a fantastic motivator to get active in the cold and dark mornings and evenings and who'd have thought with a combined effort we could have walked from our Kent Office to Rome! 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆: Looking back on our multi-award winning Ellington Park Regeneration Project in Ramsgate, completed in 2021 in which Woodley Coles LLP proudly provided Project Management and Quantity Surveying Services!🌳🛝🍃☕ The project was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and involved the construction of a new Café / Amenity building, including renovation works to the existing bandstand and historic flint terrace complete with new stone balustrading. The regeneration of the park itself also included the renovation of existing pathways, creation of a new play area, planting and general landscaping improvements. The project has provided a renewed community area for local families to enjoy which has significantly improved the use of the space, with group events and activities taking place all year round. We hope this continues for many years to come!
