Are you a researcher who is keen to communicate your work to policymakers? Here are four tips from experts at Nature Portfolio that can help you in effectively communicate your work to a diverse range of audiences. Earlier this term, we collaborated with The ZERO Institute - University of Oxford and the Oxford Climate Research Network to host Subhra Priyadarsini and Ehsan Masood in conversation with Prof. Radhika Khosla discussing how can researchers translate their academic research to policymakers. The recorded session is now live on YouTube here: https://lnkd.in/dUU5S3Si Find a summary of their discussion here: https://lnkd.in/d5w_BGKs

It was fantastic to have so many participants at The ZERO Institute’s first Energy Lunch today, in so many roles and from so many parts of the University of Oxford! True to the mission of The ZERO Institute, we had many engaging multi-disciplinary conversations about #Energy research, and it was great to get to know each other better. Watch this space and follow us for more initiatives by The ZERO Institute. Special thanks to School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford for hosting us, and to the volunteers who helped out. (Photo credits: Jia Yang and Gian Melloni.) How does the UK science advice system really work? If you're a research professional at the University of Oxford - in any discipline - tomorrow (7 November) there's a great opportunity to learn from two people with extensive first-hand experience: Professors Robin May and Sir Charles Godfray. As the Food Standards Agency's Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA), Professor May plays a key role in helping to understand how scientific developments should shape the work of the agency, and works closely with other departmental CSAs and the Government Chief Scientific Adviser, Dame Angela McLean, to advise on broader scientific issues of relevance to UK national policy. Director of the Oxford Martin School, Sir Charles Godfray is also director of its Programme on the Future of Food, chaired the Lead Expert Group of the Government Office for Science's Foresight project on the Future of Food and Farming, and served for many years as chair of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Science Advisory Council. Register via the link in the comments below to join us from 2 p.m. on 7 November at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.
