  • We’ve won the ‘Best Family Arts Activity Award’ in the Fantastic For Families Awards 2024!   We’re over the moon to have been recognised for our outstanding contribution to family-friendly arts and culture in 2023-24 for our family arts festival, Hullabaloo in the Park (2023). This award feels particularly special to us as we believe that creativity should be a part of everybody’s childhood. These national awards celebrate outstanding opportunities created for families and older audiences to access creative opportunities and enhance wellbeing through arts and cultural activities. Hullabaloo in the Park 2023 was a 5-day family arts festival, filling South Park in Darlington with bug and beastie themed spaces of creative activity, accompanied by walkabout entertainment, food, and a range of BSL and neurodivergent friendly offers – all hosted by artists and staff trained in family-friendly practices. The festival featured over 263 interactive performances, music activities, storytelling, spoken word workshops, creative play environments, geocaching trails, forest schools, and more. We’re so grateful for everyone in the Hullabaloo in the Park team and we’d like to say a huge thank you to our sponsors who made it possible for Hullabaloo in the Park to take place: Tees Valley Combined Authority, Darlington Borough Council, Arts Council England, Darlington4Culture and Creative Darlington. Charlie Kemp, Tees Valley Combined Authority Head of Creative Place, said: “I am delighted that Theatre Hullabaloo has been honoured with this award, which is fantastic recognition of a brilliant organisation and the outstanding impact it is having on local families. “Tees Valley Combined Authority is proud to support Theatre Hullabaloo as part of our objective of delivering vibrant, positive and inclusive events which bring joy to our region.” We're currently working on lots of exciting projects to bring even more creativity to children and their grown-ups, so watch this space!

Producing, writing, creating...and running one of the UKs leading children, young people and family theatre companies.

Can you help? Theatre Hullabaloo almost never ask the public for donations. As an arts charity, we do OK in securing funding for most of our work. But keeping our creative programmes free for as those with low incomes can be a struggle, and its one we desperately want to win. Why? Because creativity transforms children's lives, and with your help we can make sure our programmes reach those who need them most...without them having to pay a penny. Right now, we're on a mission to bring families together, help them learn how to play creatively, and change their outcomes for the better. Over 32,000 children and their grown-ups take part in fantastic creative experiences with us every year, at our unique venue in Darlington, as part of our festivals, or through our community programmes. We want to keep our play programmes free and to bring them to those who need them most.   Research by York St John University has shown that Creative Play installations, workshops and activities improve outcomes for children and their grown-ups, reducing depression, speeding up child development and strengthening vital family relationships. We want to expand these opportunities so no child or parent misses out.   As a registered charity Theatre Hullabaloo have an amazing opportunity to raise money so our important work can reach more families in need!   Between the 19th - 26th of March, if you donate to Theatre Hullabaloo then Big Give will DOUBLE your donation as part of their #ArtsForImpact campaign. Meaning you can make double the difference.   No donation is too small and the great thing is that it’ll be doubled by Big Give meaning your generosity will go twice as far!   We'd also be very grateful if you could share this post amongst your friends, families and networks. https://lnkd.in/eqe52Tgn
