As we come to the end of 2024 it is time for reflection. We are proud to have supported so many inspirational families by relieving the financial pressures that come with caring for a child with a life limiting illness. We do this in honour of our angels, Charlie and Carter, and we can't thank everyone enough for keeping their memories alive. The Charlie and Carter Effect is still going strong and we feel their presence in everything we do. Every time you come to our shop, chat to the boys Nana and the team on the market, buy a ticket for an event or give up your time to volunteer you are helping us support so many families and we are forever grateful. Thank you so much for your support in 2024, we appreciate every single one of you.

💙🎂Our Carter would have been 6 years old! 💙🎂 This time 6 years ago, our emotions were very mixed, there was excitement to meet our baby boy but also such a worry that hung over us, the fear of "could it happen again?, could our baby be born with problems?" After being admitted on Christmas Eve as our Carter was lying transverse, the doctors wanted me to have a c-section after injecting me with steroids for a couple of days to help him, as he was on the 'small side' ....we just kept thinking, it couldn't possibly happen again!! Let's not be paranoid and think positive. Another Christmas day in hospital, like we were so used to having with Charlie, then the big day... the day we were going to meet Charlie's little brother. In surgery, the c-section did not go to plan as the anaesthetic did not work and I had to have a general, Chris tells me that I washed his hair, I cuddled him, to my heartbreak I have no memory of this as I am empty of all my thoughts and memories until things started to go wrong around 9pm, when our world was again falling apart.💔 Like his big brother Charlie, Carter came into this world fighting, within ten hours he was deteriorating so fast, we were hearing those words from the medical professionals that we heard over and over with Charlie.... we were petrified and praying so hard. The tests, the worry, those conversations.. then to be told that it was his heart, broke ours once again. For Carter to survive, he needed a heart transplant 💔 We will never forget the support we received from all of our loved ones, family, friends and from those who had never met us, you were all desperately wanting our Carter to receive his gift of life❤️ Everyday we were doing everything we could, our plea 'Find a Heart for Carter' went worldwide, but at the same time this torn us apart knowing that for our baby to live meant another baby losing their battle to stay alive. No parent even wants to be in any of these situations. 💔"If only" 💔"I wonder what" Is all we are left with, we cherish the 25 days we were blessed with him, he showed us what a fighter he was, he was the image of his big brother he even had his blonde hair with a curl. When looking through photos we have to double take, their angelic faces were perfect, to perfect for earth, for some reason heaven needed him more, maybe Charlie wanted a little brother to play with in the stars. We will continue to do all we can to keep his and his brother's memory alive, changing the lives of families who care for their sick child who has a life limiting condition.💙💙 We hope you are having a very Happy 6th Birthday Carter, celebrating with your big brother and all our dearly missed loved ones in heaven. We love you beyond words.... #foreverourbabyboy xxx💙💙

A message from our founder, Sarah about our visit to the Freeman Hospital: "This is always such an emotional visit for us, walking through the doors of the Freeman Hospital, the corridors, the stairs, then seeing Carter's bed, which the staff very thoughtfully pulled the curtains around...our eyes were full along with our hearts delivering all of the gifts to the families in need of so much love and support. The tears flowed...but then with a big deep breath, we found our strength to show these inspirational families how much we care and how much we understand what they are going through. We met so many brave children, whose faces lit up when they received their gifts from Sarah from Curves then the surprise in their parents faces when they see we look after them too, providing them with goodie bags full of essential items.. We look after the parents so they can care for their sick child. Their daily lives are exhausting and full of worry, they really do not know what will happen from one hour to the next..they can only live in hope that 'Today is a good day!' All of you who have donated towards our goodie bags and Sarah from Curves have made a huge difference to these families. To make our visit even more special our new Patron Ross McCarthy joined us with our Trustee Claire. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts, I just keep thinking, we would have loved these bags when we were in with our angel Carter, it is the little things, that really do make a difference." Thank you to everyone who sponsored a bag and helped us make this happen. Sarah Cookson MBE💙💙 Christopher Cookson MBE Joanne Nicholson Laura Jane Forbes Kerry Louise smith

Imagine caring for a poorly child and then hearing the news that you might lose your home as well. The pressure and stress of this is overwhelming. This is where we can help; supporting families financially so they can focus on one thing at a time and care for their child without worrying about their finances. If you are able to support our Christmas Appeal we would really appreciate it. All we are asking for is £1, that's not even a cup of coffee, and a share of this post. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far, we are truly grateful. https://lnkd.in/eAP-JW7y #PleaseShare #CharlieAndCarter #ChristmasAppeal Sarah Cookson MBE💙💙 Christopher Cookson MBE Laura Jane Forbes Kerry Louise smith Claire Lee Haley Julie Skevington Shaun Darcy Joanne Nicholson Mark Nicholson
