We love this Loom transformation for Molly! Molly found this dress on Vinted for £3 and when it arrived, it wasn’t quite what she had in mind… She loved the print and wanted to do something with it, so she approached Loom and we paired her with JETTI who transformed her dress into a unique piece to keep for the long run! They even managed to find another of the same dress so there was extra fabric to work with… Swipe to see the process ➡️ You can see some of the original sketches alongside the before & after shots! Don't waste space in your wardrobe with clothes you never wear - #PostYourProject via the link in the comments and we'll match you with one of our team of designers who can completely transform those items into something new! #ThriftFlip #TheLoomApp #SustainableStyle #Upcycling #reuse

We always love hearing about your projects with Loom and this one has a rather unusual story behind it… We paired Anneliese with designer Rebel Patch to transform a t-shirt with some custom embroidered patches (the perfect way to cover up an area that you might want to hide!) Anneliese purchased a vintage t-shirt a while ago but on closer inspection, she realised that she’d missed a rather ‘herbal’ print on there that wasn’t quite right(!) Rather than throwing it away, or finding a new home for it - she approached us and asked if we could find a clever way to cover it up - and we knew Lisa was the designer for her! If you have a garment that you love that has areas of damage such as a hole or stain, you can #PostYourProject via the link in the comments and we’ll take care of the rest for you. Prices start from £40 for bespoke patches 💚💜 #TheLoomApp #ClothingRepair #UpcyclingService #SustainableFashionBrandsUK

Meeting some of the incredible upcyclers from Let's Thrift Ghana who are based in Kantamanto market. 2. Denim waste woven into incredible furniture by Kuoro Earth at The Or Foundation HQ. 3. A tour of The Or Foundation research and development warehouse - these machines are used to shred textile waste which can then be used to create new materials for other products. 4. Our Founder Daisy Harvey speaking at the Circular Economy & Textile Exchange. 5. An incredible workshop at The Or Foundation learning about the heritage of Ghanaian fabric. 6. The showroom at The Or Foundation and some of the upcycled collections that are made using waste from Kantamanto market. We loved the patchwork denim! 7. Team Loom! 8. Learning about fibreboard which is created from shredded textile waste. This can be used for furniture, household items like clothes hangers or cases for speakers. 9. The most inspiring panel talk with local upcycling designers 10. Clothing bales that can be seen stacked in Kantamanto market. These can weigh up to 55kg and can contain up to 300 garments per bale. #CircularFashion #Accra #TextileWaste #Upcycling Hannah Stacpoole Daisy Harvey

A morning with THE REVIVAL 🇬🇭 We felt incredibly lucky to meet Yayra Agbofah, the Founder & Creative Director of THE REVIVAL, who has been a trailblazer in turning textile waste into sustainable initiatives that support the community in Accra and beyond. By employing local craftsmen and collaborating with fashion students from local universities, the organisation creates new outfits and art from items found in Kantamanto market that are labelled as ‘trash’. From upcycling mixed denim into bags and kimonos, redesigning winter coats into backpacks and using techniques such as heat-transfer and silk screen painting to bring damaged items back to life - we felt so inspired seeing Yarra’s atelier and meeting some of his talented team. We even upcycled our own t-shirts to take home with us! A huge thank you to THE REVIVAL for hosting us and organising such an incredible workshop! We hope we can partner with you in the near future 💚 🇬🇭 #TheRevival #TheLoomApp #Upcyling #CircularFashion

Do you know what happens to your clothes when you throw them away? Recently, we took part in an incredible city-to-city exchange between London and Accra thanks to ReLondon ODI Global Risks and Resilience LAGO-COLLECTIVE and the City of Accra. We were fortunate to spend some time in Kantamanto market - one of the world’s largest second-hand clothing markets - where on average 15 million pieces of second-hand clothing arrives every week. Around a third of these items come from the UK. Arriving in large bales, the sellers have no knowledge of the state of the individual items inside - over time the quality has got significantly poorer whilst the quantity larger and larger which has meant a lot ends up in landfill or polluting Ghana’s beautiful beaches and lagoons. Despite seeing the devastating effects of textile waste in Ghana, we were fortunate to meet many designers and innovators who are upcycling the waste in the most incredible and inspiring ways. From luxury clothing to furniture, household items and new materials made from shredded textile fibres - the talent and vision was amazing and we were lucky to build relationships with those that we met out there that we hope to continue to learn and collaborate with in the future! As a business that focuses on tackling the ever-growing crisis of textile waste, we were incredibly fortunate to learn how businesses like Loom can support the circular economy on a global scale by sharing knowledge, innovative practices and raise awareness. #CircularFashion #TextileInnovation #CircularEconomy #SustainableFashion *This exchange is supported by the Africa-Europe Mayors’ Dialogue, in partnership with ReLondon and hosted by the City of Accra.
