🌡️ 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? Even a slight drop in body temperature during surgery - perioperative hypothermia - can lead to complications like infections, increased blood loss, and delayed recovery. Why does this happen? There are several different reasons why perioperative hypothermia may occur. 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀: 🔺Anesthesia 🔺Age, health, and medication use 🔺The physical environment 🔺Transportation to the operating room 💭 To learn more about perioperative hypothermia and how to combat it, read the full article: https://bit.ly/4aBx6z2#thermarmour #patientwarming #medicalblanket #passivewarming #surgery #patientpathway #surgicalsiteinfections #SSIs #perioperativehypothermia #clinicaltrials *Every patient should be assessed for their individual needs and the appropriate solution. Active warming solutions should be used where deemed necessary.

  • 'That is so comfy' - could we ask for a better review for the hypothermia evacuation bag 2.0? 😉 Comfort aside, the evacuation bag 2.0 has been designed to effectively insulate patients in evacuation scenarios, whilst allowing access to injury sites 👩🚒 If you're interested in the use cases for military or rescue services, come and speak to the THERMARMOUR team at the Trauma Care UK conference next week. We'll be on stand 13 and look forward to speaking with you 🙏 #traumacare #hypothermiaprevention

Prehospital management of facial trauma and incentivising dentists to broaden their horizons in humanitarian dentistry. This concept was initiated by Michael Strother for Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW)/Addysg a Gwella Iechyd Cymru (AaGIC) . Added depth to this study day was provided by the experienced local SAR and HEMS paramedics. We covered facial bandaging, jaw wiring, midface bleeding , airway management. Casualty monitoring with Cosinuss GmbH c-med° alpha in ear sensor . Don’t be distracted, check and manage other injuries was reinforced by 🎲Edward Opalka SICH tourniquet and Innovative Trauma Care Inc. (iTClamp) module. Importantance of preventing casualty heat loss was reinforced using TSG Associates LLP Xtract SR . Rigid stretchers were practiced using Med Tech Sweden Inc Vacuum Stretcher /collar . Assessment during transportation reinforced with THERMARMOUR stretcher. On this study day we laid the foundation and invested in our future Wilderness Expedition Dentistry dentists.

  • Keeping patients warm before, during, and after surgery is critical to preventing hypothermia and reducing post-op infection risks (NICE, 2013). Yet, 20% of patients still arrive in the OR cold, leading to delayed surgeries and poorer outcomes—sometimes due to a lack of consistency around pre-warming. 🚨 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 🚨 While forced air and conductive warming are widely used, they come with some drawbacks: 🔹 𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 – These solutions are often introduced at the point of surgery, when patients have already lost heat, causing avoidable delays. 🔹 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗹𝘆 – They require extra equipment, space, and energy, which not all facilities have. With budgets tightening, and sustainability more important than ever, is it time to review existing patient warming processes? Let us know what you think 💭 #hypothermia #hypothermiaprevention #surgery #perioperativehypothermia #passivewarming #activewarming *Every patient should be assessed for their individual needs and the appropriate solution. Active warming solutions should be used where deemed necessary.

  • 📣 We are delighted to be attending the upcoming 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 in Birmingham which focuses on all of the ways that Trusts can improve patient outcomes through reducing the risk of infection throughout the patient pathway. We look forward to sharing how 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗢𝗨𝗥 is helping Trusts maintain patient normothermia before, during and after surgery to help lower SSI rates and aid faster recovery times.

THERMARMOUR are busy preparing for the OneTogether conference on 6th March, where we'll be discussing the importance of temperature management in the perioperative period 🌡 Studies show that unintended perioperative hypothermia, experienced by around 20% of patients, increases the risk of: - Surgical site infections 🦠 - Blood loss 🩸 - Increased pain 🤕 - Prolonged recovery 🤒 There are simple practices that Trusts can implement to reduce these risks. Amongst them, perioperative warming, and pre-warming in particular, has been shown to reduce the incidence of surgical site infections by up to 40%. If you are interested in simple, cost-effective solution for pre-warming patients, visit the THERMARMOUR team at the One Together conference next week! Find us at 📍Stand 5 at the NCC Birmingham on the 6th March 2025. Leave a comment if you're attending the conference 👇 #onetogether #patientwarming #hypothermiaprevention #perioperativehypothermia

  • 🌡️ Studies show that up to 20% of patients experience 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝘆𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗮. Perioperative hypothermia is not just uncomfortable for the patient - it can lead to serious complications, including: ⚠️ Increased blood loss ⚠️ Delayed recovery ⚠️ Higher infection rates Warming intraoperatively has been standard practice for years and typical warming methods include: - intravenous fluid warmers, forced air warming blankets and heat mattresses. Whilst these are popular methods, they may not be suitable for administering to patients during the pre-operative period or during recovery due to a number of reasons: ❌️ time constraints, space constraints, lack of equipment, or something as simple as the availability of electrical sockets on the ward. 📲 To read the full article, visit our website: https://bit.ly/3EgMZ1P#thermarmour #patientwarming #medicalblanket #passivewarming #surgery #patientpathway #surgicalsiteinfections #SSIs #perioperativehypothermia #clinicaltrials *Every patient should be assessed for their individual needs and the appropriate solution.
