If you stay in the Troon area and your New Years resolution is to get a bit fitter - you’ll be glad to know that we recently submitted a planning application for the proposal of a new water sports hub located at Barassie Beach! The proposal is a welcome addition to Troon as it allows the local community to engage in water sports in a safe environment whilst also containing amenities such as; - outdoor showers - changing facilities - cafe - bike maintenance - kite surfing The centre hosts fitness classes promoting a healthier lifestyle for local residents. As the project is located on the beach front this allowed for the opportunity to propose a rooftop seating area to take in the neighbouring views of the beach. We’re pleased to see the renovation project on Barrhead Main Street, that we assisted in achieving planning and building warrant approval, is being put to good use! The sports bar is a great asset to the area providing a space for entertainment for the local community. As can be seen from the photos taken before the project commenced, the sports bar makes use of a derelict building on the Main Street that would’ve otherwise continued to lay unused. We recently undertook a feasibility study on behalf of Annanhill Golf Trust for the regeneration of Annanhill parks disused 18-hole pitch and putt course. They had the following to say on their social media platforms: “ Annanhill Golf Trust is proud to announce a new regeneration project aimed at transforming Annanhill Park’s disused 18-hole pitch and putt course and adjacent playground into a vibrant community golf and recreation facility. This initiative, designed to support health and wellbeing, will introduce children ages 4-14 to golf, with community coaching courses running throughout the year. By engaging youth and encouraging inclusivity, the project aims to foster personal growth, community pride, and the values of the sport. The redevelopment will include a new adventure golf facility, repurposing the old BMX track, creating a sustainable revenue stream to support the Trust’s long-term goals. Additionally, local primary school students will be invited to design the 18-hole course, with winning ideas brought to life on-site, fostering a sense of ownership and connection.“ We are glad to see our client is happy with such a great proposal for our local community in Kilmarnock. We are delighted to welcome to our office Lewis! Having been with us the past week, now the dust has settled we thought we would asked Lewis a few questions about himself and his experience so far: In his spare time Lewis operates a business reselling clothes which he enjoys the challenge of running. In terms of his first week he has found the most exciting part of the job is realising that work he is undertaken will be taken forward and built on behalf of our clients - making a positive impact on their life. At THA one of the many types of projects we work on are refurbishments across a large variety of building typology. A recent detail that stood out to us on one of our refurbishment projects was bringing the life back to the masonry surrounding this buildings window openings. The years had took their toll on the existing structure however by renewing the pointing of the stonework and replacing the existing style of windows with a modern counterpart - we managed to retain the character of the building whilst providing the building a new lease of life.
