Is it too late to wish you a Happy Christmas from the Thurra team..? As per our tradition, we save our Christmas party for January and we celebrated ours on Friday, courtesy of The Flight Club in Manchester. Most of our team managed to make it and a great time was had by all! Turns out there's some talented darts players on the team... with a healthy level of competitiveness too! 😁 No January blues for us. We're fully focused and ready to take whatever you can throw at us... metaphorically of course! 🎯 #ThurraTeam #ChristmasParty #JanuaryCelebration #TeamBuilding #EngineeringInspections

The Thurra team of Engineer Surveyors shared their findings of the most common faults they experience when inspecting passenger lifts. Here’s what they had to say and also what you, as users can do to help avoid life threatening and costly accidents from arising... https://ow.ly/3ckK50QnHOA #EngineerSurveyors #PassengerLifts #SafetyFirst #engineeringinspections

At first sight, it may be tricky to know what you are looking at here. It is, in fact, broken wires on a passenger lift. The result was the immediate requirement to have new ropes fitted. Even the tiniest break to any of the wires in a given strand, compromises the entire safety and strength of the wire rope. #passengerlifts #liftsafety #LOLER #engineeringinspections #inspectionservices

In the 50 year history of the HSE, fatal injuries at work have been reduced by 85%. “Today, Great Britain is one of the safest places in the world to work but these statistics serve as a reminder that there is still room for further improvement, and we remain committed to ensuring people remain safe and healthy wherever work is taking place.” According to HSE’s chief executive Sarah Albon. “This year marks 50 years since the legislation which established HSE was passed. Much has been achieved in that time, including a dramatic reduction of around 85 per cent in the numbers of employee fatal injuries in the workplace." HSE publishes annual work-related ill health and injury statistics for 2023/24. You can read the full report here. https://lnkd.in/ev-Cvpgj #HSE #WorkplaceSafety #HealthAndSafety

Are you sitting comfortably? A little story from us about a recent journey for one of our very capable Engineer Surveyors... Earlier this year we offered out the opportunity to train up as a Power Press Engineer. Step forward Matt. The training lasted for around 8 months, meaning that Matt needed exposure to a wide variety of power presses. It was intense and required a lot of effort to get to the required level to meet the very exacting demands of a Power Press Engineer Surveyor. Early starts and late finishes were needed and a never ending array of documentation to digest. To support Matt’s understanding he attended Lavenders NDT where he successfully gained the industry recognised qualification, PCN Level 2 in Magnetic Testing. Matt has had support and help to progress in the Power Press discipline from the team at Thurra and continues to work with a highly skilled Power Press Engineer of 30+ years for ongoing support. Matt now covers all areas of the Power Press discipline and is building his experience and knowledge all the time. We couldn't be prouder! You have absolutely smashed this with your can-do approach and appetite for learning! Well done Matt. #EngineerSurveyor #PowerPress #EngineeringTraining #CareerDevelopment #EngineeringLife #TeamSupport
