Only four days! 🎉🪡👗 #Fashion should not cost the #earth. While we can afford to replace broken things, the earth can't afford for us to throw them away. We are very excited to be showing off the fruits of this labour on Friday 27th September at 2 Royal Avenue with many of the garments being modelled by the makers themselves. You are all welcome to come, tickets not necessary. Just show up and enjoy! As well as old deadstock fabric, and textile donations to TfS, Oxfam have supplied us with garments from the ragpile that we have reworked into new clothes using patchwork, embroidery and dyeing. These were garments unable to be sold because they were damaged, worn or stained, and so have truly been given a new life. See you in a week!! #tfs #charity #belfast #northernireland #toolsforsolidarity #fastfashionkills #catwalk #fashionshow #theresnoplanetb #ecology #secondhand #vintage #reuse #repair #climatechange Edited · 3d

Tools For Solidarity in Belfast gives old tools a new life and send it to people in need in countries of Africa.
About us
In the era of consumerism, repairing is an act of rebellion. Tools For Solidarity is a non-profit organisation in Northern Ireland that runs entirely by volunteers. We are actively working towards equitable distribution of power and resources in the world. Our charity supports artisans in the poorest countries of the world by providing high quality refurbished hand tools, sewing machines and training through local refurbishment centres within the regions themselves. The main message of our cause is, "In the struggle to develop, bare hands are not enough." We believe that this act of solidarity enables local people to have technical skills and knowledge to be more self reliant. We have the Education for Sustainabilty Development Program as well which creates awareness about poverty, global injustice and environmental issues through primary schools and community groups.

Getting ready for Sustainable Fashion Week in Belfast? ♻️🌟👗 I hope you didn't think we weren't going to part of it! 😎 City Council and Tools for Solidarity will be part of the global movement to highlight fast fashion's big contribution to climate change. A unique #catwalk is being held in 2 Royal Avenue, Friday 27th September. A demonstration of style without perfect, unreal bodies, with no age limits, gender restrictions, or planet damage! Over the last few month we have been planning an ethical and second-hand fashion show. Community groups from across Belfast have making the garments from donated fabrics, and clothes that deserve a second chance. Textiles rescued from the Oxfam ragbag, and the TfS scrap stash have been loving crafted into looks for the four seasons to make clothes for timeless fashion. For our finale, will be showing our creativity with 12kg of fabric diverted from landfill. Can't wait to see what they make! #belfast #northernireland #toolsforsolidarity #fastfashionkills #catwalk #fashionshow #theresnoplanetb #ecology #secondhand #vintage #handmadeclothes #communitygroups #citycouncil #showsomelove #oxfam #climatechange #activism
