The home delivery expert Parcelhero says a huge 41.1% of all transport & storage businesses (the ONS category which includes logistics, parcels, haulage and warehousing companies) report they have ‘no concerns for my business’ for January 2025. Parcelhero’s Head of Consumer Research, David Jinks M.I.L.T., says: ‘The transport & storage sector is the only one where over 40% of companies report no main concerns for the new year. UK Becomes First the Impose Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Mandate into Law The Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Mandate has officially come into force, making the UK among the first countries globally to enshrine it in law. Following 1 January announcement, the UK has set an ambitious target requiring 10% of all jet fuel to be sustainable by 2030. The initiative, part of the government’s green aviation strategy, will utilise sources such as household waste and cooking oil to produce SAF. By law, this fuel must constitute at least 2% of all jet fuel for UK departures from 2025. The government has established plans to supply approximately 1.2 million tonnes of SAF annually to the UK airline industry by 2030. Putting this into perspective, that would be enough fuel to circle the globe 3,000 times. Aviation Minister, Mike Kane said: “From this moment on, aviation will be a greener, more sustainable form of travel and today marks a significant milestone for the UK SAF industry.” #Aviation #Sustainability #Fuel #Law #UK Read more including comments from Duncan McCourt, Chief Executive of Sustainable Aviation, here: https://lnkd.in/dvk6Ax4m

Some Possibilities for Liquid Hydrogen Power Toyota has developed a concept model that explores how hydrogen gas generated while driving – “boil off gas” (vaporised hydrogen) – can be used, potentially increasing the efficiency of liquid hydrogen as an engine fuel. The company is seeking partners to take on the challenge of developing the technology together. The concept was showcased last weekend at the final round of the 2024 ENEOS Super Taikyu race series in Japan, where the field included a GR Corolla running on liquid hydrogen. Toyota will continue to use the challenging world of motorsports to refine its cars and the skills and talents of people, together with its partners, to achieve carbon neutrality... #Hydrogen #Sustainability #Energy #Fuel #Transport #Carbon #Neutral Read more here: https://lnkd.in/emwsTctS

FCL Expands Operations to the Next Level FCL Event Logistics Ltd is a trucking and logistics company dedicated to the events industry, recognised for its in-depth expertise in live events and its ability to design logistics operations that deliver a smooth, reliable service. Operating across the UK and into Europe, the firm has proven itself in just about all manner of event industry segment, supporting everything from trade conferences through to: exhibitions, music events, TV and film events, and more. Yet, following the acquisition of Conference Haul International, another prominent player in the events industry, FCL Event Logistics is now in a stronger position than ever. FCL Event Logistics was founded in 2012 and immediately took it upon itself to become a specialist in the events industry where there was a real need for tailored services to support the unique logistical challenges associated with live events. Over the years, the organisation gradually made a name for itself and grew in a relatively sustainable fashion up until the COVID-19 pandemic – a period which understandably hit the industry hard. And while the pandemic spelled the end for many in the industry, for FCL Event Logistics the pandemic interestingly laid the foundations for the success of the company today. According to Martin Cowie, Logistics Manager of FCL Event Logistics, the COVID years were indeed tough, with activity across the events space effectively grinding to a halt. While this presented its challenges, as a smaller family run organisation with a relatively small infrastructural footprint, the company was able to survive quite effectively. As a result, following the end of the period, FCL Event Logistics was in a rather envious position, able to assume new contracts and develop new relationships in what was (and to some extent, still is) a rapidly re-growing events industry that is figuratively making up for lost time... #Events #Logistics #Transport #UK #Europe Read the full T&L magazine feature here: https://lnkd.in/efygk8HQ
