We want to see our native woodlands regenerating, our rivers, lochs and seas teeming with life, and our fields buzzing with pollinators – and much more. The Scottish Government has committed to setting legal targets for nature recovery. But in order to recover, nature desperately needs funding. Sign the petition to help protect funding for nature 👉 https://lnkd.in/e-CcEvAw With your support, hopefully we can reach the target of 5,000 signatures 🤞 [Image Description: A photo of a misty glen with snowy mountains and forest by a loch.] #ScotlandLovesNature #Biodiversity #NatureRestoration

As we come to the end of #NationalTreeWeek we can celebrate the beautiful holly tree this festive season. With its prickly, evergreen leaves and bright red berries - holly is associated with a lot of mythology and folklore. ✨ People brought holly into the house, as its leaves and berries reflect the light and add colour to the darker days. It was sometimes used to protect the home from malevolent faeries. 🧚 And also to allow faeries to shelter in the home without friction between them and the human occupants. Discover many more facts and stories about this enchanting tree 👉 https://lnkd.in/eY9X8d88 [Image Description: A close up photo of holly leaves and berries.] #Holly #Winter #Festive #Faeries

Red squirrels return 🐿️ With support from our dedicated volunteers, we’ve been busy with our autumn releases! Check out this slo-mo footage capturing a red squirrel leap into its new environment. 🎉 We are reintroducing a population of red squirrels to woodlands along the coastline from Letterfearn to Ratagan on the Glenelg peninsula, on the northwest coast of Scotland. We have healthy red squirrel populations in the east, but red squirrel populations have struggled to expand into the north and west due to areas of open ground and fragmented woodland. Our Red Squirrel Reintroduction Project is giving red squirrels a helping hand, and enabling them to expand into areas of their former range. Find out more about this vital rewilding work 👉 https://lnkd.in/d8UnrCbf [Video Description: Footage of a red squirrel being released into woodland.] #RedSquirrel #Reintroduction #Conservation

Acclaimed Scottish actor Brian Cox CBE backs calls for Scotland to be declared the world’s first #RewildingNation Scotland is one of the most nature-depleted nations on earth, but there is hope. “We should be proud of our rewilding progress. We now have more than 150 rewilding projects across the country. Hundreds of people working to put things right again. Thousands more who know that rewilding can transform Scotland’s future for the better.” Brian Cox’s call comes just days before The Scottish Rewilding Alliance, a coalition of more than 20 organisations, presents its vision for a Rewilding Nation to The Scottish Government. Read the article, and show your support for rewilding 30% of Scotland’s land and seas by adding your name to the Rewilding Nation Charter 👉 https://lnkd.in/e8zR9pHV #Rewilding #Restoration #Conservation

It’s National Tree Week! 🌲 Join us in celebrating Scotland’s national tree - the iconic Scots pine. 🌲 As the largest and longest-living tree in the Caledonian forest, the Scots pine is a keystone species, forming the backbone of an ecosystem that countless other species depend on. We’re dedicated to protecting and expanding these unique, ancient forest fragments to ensure they thrive for generations to come. "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." – Albert Einstein When we understand that everything is interconnected, we see how our own health and wellbeing, along with that of our communities, depends on the health of nature and our climate. Restoring balance to one helps restore balance to all. 🌎 [Image Description: A photo of a Scots pine tree next to a loch with mountains in the distance.] #Nature #Restore #Balance
