Transforming UK Infrastructure: The Future of Rail Freight in Hinckley We’re moving closer to a decision on Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange (HNRFI)—a once-in-a-generation project that will drive up to £406 million per year into the UK economy. ✅ £800m private investment into major infrastructure ✅ 16 trains per day, removing 83 million HGV miles from UK roads ✅ 9.1m sq ft of modern rail-served logistics space ✅ 8,000 new jobs across all skill levels ✅ Significant sustainability gains, including 70,120 tonnes of CO₂ saved annually ✅ Over 40 MW energy generated, helping power the entire sites This nationally significant development will improve connectivity, unlock investment, and drive sustainable economic growth. We’ve now submitted further details to assist the Secretary of State’s decision, reinforcing our commitment to delivering a project with rail freight, sustainability, and economic growth at its core.
