🌟 Today was an exhilarating day at Trust Impact as we got on the first steps of a strategic development journey with the University of Leicester Students' Union. We're thrilled to collaborate with such a passionate group of #officers, #trustees, and #stakeholders. During our session, we engaged in vibrant discussions about the future and purpose of the Students' Union. We delved into identifying their "North Star"—the guiding principle that will lead their strategic vision. Our team, led by Sam Ellison and Matt Stevenson-Dodd, ensured every voice was heard, fostering an environment ripe for insightful dialogue and innovative ideas. This is just the beginning, and we're excited about the #possibilities that lie ahead. We believe every #educational institution deserves a clear and compelling strategic direction, guided by their unique values and goals. A special thanks to Liam Davis for his enthusiastic leadership and commitment throughout today's session. Here's to more inspiring #workshops and #impactful outcomes! 📣 If you're a part of a #university looking to redefine your student union's impact? We'd love to hear your journey! #TrustImpact #StrategicPlanning #CommunityBuilding University of Leicester #StudentUnions #ImpactMeasurement #FutureOfImpact #socialimpactmeasurement
Today we began the first steps on our journey towards building a new strategic plan for the University of Leicester Students' Union. 🎉 Officers, Trustees and a mixture of managers and stakeholders were joined by the incredible Sam and Matt from Trust Impact. Having opened up a single question organisation wide survey on “what is the purpose of our students union ” Sam and Matt tested and probed our views around our purpose or our “North Star ⭐️. We interrogated, debated and mused over strategic tensions that exist within complex organisations alongside our own initial emerging findings. I cannot wait for our wider staff and student consultation work in future sessions. Today was one of those (all too rare?) days when you leave work feeling excited to read the next chapter! Let’s see what tomorrow brings! 💪🏻

So lovely to catch up with our Trust Impact colleague Lara Sinha today IRL! Thanks to Hannah Woods and Adrienne Skelton who also made the trip. I love how technology enables us to work remotely from anywhere in the world but it’s so good to have a face to face chat (and be chastised for which map app you use). I’ll come to you next time - roll on Trust Impact India!

It’s delicate, complex, and vital work in a sector that’s underfunded and often highly politicised. When Enver Solomon took over as CEO in December 2020, he inherited a challenge familiar to many organisations working at this scale: how to step back from the daily demands and clearly measure the impact of such essential work. 𝘈𝘴 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵: “𝘞𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺.” That’s where Trust Impact came in, and we’ve been on a transformative journey ever since. It hasn’t always been straightforward, nor has it followed the typical path of our work, but this partnership has been a powerful example of what can happen when teams embrace the hard conversations and stay focused on their goals. Working with such a passionate and dedicated group of people at the Refugee Council has been a genuine delight. Together, we’ve developed a clearer understanding of the incredible impact they make, and it’s been inspiring to witness their commitment to doing right by those they serve. Thank you Enver Solomon, Tamsin Baxter, Renae Mann, Hannah Woods, Ryan Miemczyk Lisa Young and Scott Mitchell . Here’s to many more milestones on this journey! 🎉 🔗 For more detailed insights, please refer to the link to case studies in the comment. 🔗 Passionate about transforming social impact through technology and action? HIGHLIGHTS from FUTURE OF SOCIAL IMPACT SUMMIT We are all still buzzing from Trust Impact’s ‘Future of Social Impact’ summit last week! We will be sharing more insight from the sessions soon, but in the meantime, below is a brief recap of the highlights from the morning. If you're interested in connecting, collaborating, and transforming social impact through tech and purposeful action, join the Future of Social Impact community. https://lnkd.in/e5vFZqiR. Critical themes like our readiness for AI, the need to put impact at the heart of strategy and the power of live data were all discussed. Highlights included Dan Sutch from Cast Digital observing that charities have made minimal investments in tech (just 0.3% compared to the overall investment in AI), while Sarah Wood underlined the need to seize opportunities and remain committed despite differing opinions. Dr Thomas McNeil CEO JABBS Foundation raised some of the potential ethical considerations of AI, especially when models create incorrect results. Mufeedah Bustin from Hibiscus Initiatives talked about the difficult decisions they had made to focus on core purpose but how this had really helped them demonstrate the difference they made in a world where some funders are now experiencing a 3000% increase in applications. @Ross Maloney from The Ramblers talked about the huge changes they have underway and how a clear Theory of Change has really helped them understand and communicate change with their members. Discussions also included the use of live data visualisation for better decision-making and transparency, with Jason Stacey Jason from YMCA England & Wales discussing how a decision to be transparent about their outcomes had raised no concerns from stakeholders. Julia Dwyer from Cadent Foundation talked about how live data from the charities they supported had transformed the way they targeted areas of fuel poverty for support. Finally, Chantelle Miller and Ryan Miemczyk from Trust Impact discussed the importance of ethical considerations in AI development, and highlighted the future opportunities in AI, including the potential for AI to unlock innovative data sets and improve decision-making in the charity sector. #socialchange #measuringimpact #dataforgood
