A comment from Guild CEO Gregor Young:
Over the past few weeks, we've been letting our customers and users know that Guild will be shutting down in October. Guild is necessary and so I'm gutted we couldn't make it work. Ashley Friedlein's vision was to create a new space for professionals to have quality conversations and make meaningful connections. Guild evolved from a private messaging app for executives and entrepreneurs to a broad community and networking platform for professionals of all types from all over the globe. Many communities have thrived on Guild and many of our users absolutely love it. We've been flooded by appeals to keep going from people who feel Guild has had a real impact on their lives and careers. The reality is however, we never fully achieved the rate of growth that we needed and the tough funding market made it impossible to continue. I could go on about the whys, the what ifs and the lessons learned, and I may later. For now I'd rather just show my gratitude to all the folks that helped us create something wonderful. Big thanks to ⭐ everyone at Guild, past and present, who poured their heart and soul into such a meaningful endeavour. In my time that includes Margarida Pinto de Sousa, Vanessa M., Michelle Goodall, Emma Shepherd, Jack Fox, Gabriela Pędzich, Vivien Underwood, Robin Carswell. ⭐ all the fabulous folks at Monterail who are such a great product development outfit (10/10, would recommend) - Agnieszka Kozłowska, Piotr Cholewa, Hubert Białęcki, Grzegorz Hajdukiewicz, Katarzyna Gieroń, Barbara Banaszak, Kamil Zasada, Magdalena Baranska, Anna Skrzeszewska, Joanna Madej ⭐ our board and investors who had such faith in Ashley and I and were always kind and supportive ⭐ The great number of enthusiastic community managers and members who've created and contributed to Guild communities Of course, the biggest thanks is for Ashley Friedlein, who, lets face it, is Mr Guild. An inspirational leader and entrepreneur who I'm grateful to have worked alongside and learned from these past few years. I'm not sure what's next for me yet. I'll have a little time to finally build my kids their treehouse. Otherwise, I'm keen to chat with as many folks as possible for advice, insight and inspiration. So please do DM me if you're open to that 📞.
