Tyre Emissions Research Consortium
Motor Vehicle Parts Manufacturing
A group committed to understanding the environmental effects of tyre emisisons through independent research.
About us
A group committed to understanding the environmental effects of tyre emisisons through independent research. Core principles: This group is open to anyone who associates with the following core principles: 1. Tyre particles and chemicals are shed in significant quantities into the environment. 2. Tyre particles can potentially pollute air, soil and water. 3. Tyres shed material across a wide size range from macro to ultrafine particles. 4. Tyres contain certain chemical compounds that are potentially toxic to human, animal and marine life. 5. The size and shape of tyre particles generated in the laboratory may not necessarily correlate with real-world emissions.

Environmental distribution of 6PPD and its derivations by location and traffic characteristics... >>A nation-wide study for the occurrence of PPD antioxidants and 6PPD-quinone in road dusts of China<< "The functional region-dependent characteristics of PPDs and 6PPD-Q indicate that the total concentrations of ΣPPDs and 6PPD-Q in road dusts from urban tunnel were remarkably higher than those from urban trunk roads, and suburban road dusts showed relative lower pollution level." https://lnkd.in/esjGkfS6 #tyreemissions #tireemissions #tyreconsortium

Further research into the affects of tyre emissions, together with other environmental conditions, on algae - oxidative stress being the key effect here... >>Tire microplastic particles and warming inhibit physiological functions of the toxic microalga Alexandrium pacificum<< "Specifically, under elevated temperature, high concentrations TMPs [tyre microplastics] could inhibit photosynthetic pigment and chlorophyll fluorescence parameter, as well as the nutrient absorption, and induced oxidative stress.." https://lnkd.in/ePKgX_2g #tyreemissions #tireemissions #tyreconsortium

New paper out today! Led by Sara Hutton. We found that #nanoplastics produced from three different plastic types (tire, polyester, bio-based cups) interfere with the expression of genes related to muscle function in fish, and disrupt behavior. https://lnkd.in/g2cT8Etu Pacific Northwest Consortium on Plastics Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences

Further evidence of of how 6PPD and its derivatives are widely present in the environment... >>Ubiquitous occurrence of p-Phenylenediamine (PPD) antioxidants and PPD-quinones in fresh atmospheric snow and their amplification effects on associated aqueous contamination<< "Abrasion of rubber tire was noticed as possible source of PPDs in urban fresh atmospheric snow, and high concentration of PPDs was found to be beneficial to snow-bound PPDQs’ formation in most sampling sites." https://lnkd.in/eH6_GZjh #tyreemissions #tireemissions #tyreconsortium
